Matthew is one of the leaders at . He helps out with many of their projects and plays a crucial role in the organisation.

Here, Matthew shares his experience of being part of Hope House Mauritius. The fatherly and motherly roles that Andre and Yvette have played in his life have inspired in him a deep desire to return that love to his local community.

Here are some of the projects is currently running to help change lives, inspire hope, and restore dignity.

Salt Surfers:
This program mentors young people through surf, movement, and good times on the beach in Tamarin. We finish with local roti’s and chats.

Preschool Swimming:
Helping preschoolers build confidence and feel comfortable in and around water through playful water activities, preparing them for future swim lessons and water safety.

Community Garden:
Turning unused land into vegetable gardens while providing locals with food security and the skills needed to grow their own food.

Girls Make Waves:
Yvette meets with women on the beach to teach them how to swim and surf. It uses surf lessons as a vehicle to build confidence and overcome fear.

Waterfilter Outreach:
Providing clean drinking water to the people of Mauritius so they can live free from waterborne diseases.

Sewing Classes:
Providing sewing skills to create jobs for the local community.

Wood workshop:
A hands-on carpentry workshop where young men learn to design, build, and finish quality furniture. Beginners develop skills while advanced trainees work as craftsmen and teach others.

Yvette is the co-founder of , working alongside her husband Andre to bring hope to the island.

Since 2014, Hope House has been a beacon of change in Mauritius, addressing poverty and limited opportunities through teaching, training, and mentoring.

Yvette’s passion is to see growth in people’s lives. It does not have to be fast or extravagant, only simple, step by step change as people discover who they are and what their potential holds.

Yvette dreams of others standing alongside her and Andre to help restore hope to Mauritius.
