Some stories are hard to share.

Today, meet Pedro.

He learned to surf in Caraballeda and became part of the Christian Surfers Venezuela community. He also completed a discipleship program with Luis Gutiérrez.

Then the earthquakes destroyed his home and killed his entire family.

For 49 days, Pedro searched through the rubble for his parents. Eventually, he found them.

Now Pedro has to start again.

$2,040 raised. $15,960 still needed.

🇻🇪 STANDING WITH VENEZUELA

The earthquakes have left families in La Guaira and Caraballeda facing devastating loss. Some have lost loved ones, homes and the basic things they depend on every day.

And for many families, the need for help is urgent.

That’s why Groundswell Aid and Christian Surfers are launching this relief fundraiser — to help trusted local leaders bring food, water, medicine and essential supplies to families in need.

We’re asking our community to pray, share and stand with Venezuela.

We want to honor Matt and Nat Thistlewaite, with whom we have partnered over the last 8+ years. 🇮🇩

As Groundswell Aid wraps up our formal partnership with Rote Island Huts 🌴☉🏄 Enquiries WhatsApp +61468756203 known in the past as Mercy Huts, we want to celebrate the journey we’ve shared with Matt and Natalie Thistlewaite over the last 8 years.

Together with the Groundswell Aid community, we’ve contributed to cyclone relief, navigated COVID-19, supported the local clinic, and supplied surfboards, sports gear, and diving equipment to uplift the Rote Island community.

Looking at Mercy Huts, we admire the way they work. In everything we did together, the goal was always to activate and empower the local community, and uplift the next generation.🩵

Seeing them grow to a point where they are stable and self-sustainable is a wonderful testimony. As Groundswell Aid looks to the future, our heartbeat remains at the grassroots level, and we are stepping into a new season to help incubate and support other emerging projects. While we have decided to end this official partnership, we will always stay connected to Mercy Huts.
