Congratulations to our mentor, teacher, and amigazo, Jorge Castillo, on an incredibly powerful 18th annual Fandango Fronterizo! 🪕✨

What began in 2007 as a vision - gathering a handful of musicians on either side of the border wall to jam - brought together hundreds of people this past weekend. Community members traveled from across Mexico, California, and the East Coast to co-create 10 hours of live, community-sourced Son Jarocho music.

Although Friendship Park on the U.S. side has remained closed since 2020, participants kicked off this year’s festival with a stunning rendition of Balajú led by Son Ellas and directed at the border wall itself - a moving ode to migration.

At Via, we are proud to fiscally sponsor this project, and even prouder to stand shoulder to shoulder with Jorge. Thank you, Jorge, for inspiring us daily and for your dedicated leadership with our youth in the Somos La Voz by Via International program! 🤍

🎉 Congratulations to our Executive Director, Molly Porth Cabrera, on graduating from the RISE San Diego Urban Leadership Fellows Program!

Over the past year, Molly has grown alongside fellow social impact leaders and presented Paid Aid, a Community Action Project created in collaboration with Do Good Leadership and Loretta, Your Do-Good Leadership Coach to explore more equitable support for social impact leaders and care workers.

✨ Sometimes the most impactful part of an experience isn't what you learn—it's the people you meet.

We're grateful to create spaces where meaningful connections, new perspectives, and a sense of community can grow across cultures and borders. 🌎🤝

🎶 The music continues, and so does the opportunity to make a difference. We are still raising funds to support the Somos La Voz Son Jarocho cohort, helping provide instruments, mentorship, and access to a meaningful cultural arts experience for Mexican and Chicano youth. ❤️

Every contribution brings this vision one step closer to reality. If you'd like to support the next generation of musicians, culture bearers, and community leaders, please consider donating. 🔗 https://loom.ly/ZDed-KA
