Yesterday was such a special day for Garden 31💚🌱

We were honored to receive funding through the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club grant program accepted on our behalf by our Program Coordinator, Saraya McClean and Murray High School student, Lisbeth. This included the full $7,000 requested in the grant written by Saraya in her very first grant application. We were also incredibly surprised and grateful to be selected as one of the Legacy Fund recipients, receiving an additional $25,000 in support of our work and mission.

It was inspiring to stand alongside so many amazing organizations doing meaningful work throughout our communities, including , , , , and more.

Seeing youth leadership recognized and supported in spaces like this means everything. Thank you to everyone who believes in community-rooted work, environmental stewardship, and investing in the next generation and a huge shoutout to our MVP Saraya! We are so proud of you!

Thanks to the generosity of Home Depot and the coordination of 365 Connect, we received an abundance of donated tools, materials, and fruit trees—all of which went directly into our school learning garden at Major General Murray High School

Even more special—the Home Depot team showed up and volunteered their time alongside our students, working together to build, plant, and bring this space to life.

From irrigation systems to citrus and berry trees, this garden is becoming a hands-on learning environment where students can grow food, skills, and connection to the earth.

A huge shoutout to 365 Connect and Christian Solis, whose mission to connect people, resources, and opportunities for community impact continues to make moments like this possible.

So much gratitude for everyone who showed up to make this happen.

A message from Chris:

I am honored to receive the Pat Libby Award for Excellence in Leadership from USD’s Nonprofit Institute. I’m humbled, grateful, and share this with all of you—because without you, there is no me.

We are capable of living the dreams of our ancestors, but only if we choose to live freely. Real change starts within. The systems may be broken, but we still have the power to live what is ours.

Grateful for my Garden 31 family, my community, my mentors, and my loved ones. To our youth—you give me purpose, hope, and healing.

Above all, I thank the Creator for this life and the chance to serve. Remember—we are creators too. Tomorrow reflects the seeds we plant today.

“Grow some sh*t.” —Ron Finley

Let’s gooooo! 💚🌱
