Final Project Update & Vote Needed as We Close Our Nonprofit
Dear Friends,
I hope this message finds you well. As we conclude our San Diego Beach Improvement efforts for 2025, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your generosity, your encouragement, and your belief in what we set out to accomplish. Together, we’ve been able to contribute something meaningful to South Mission Beach, and I’m deeply grateful for the role each of you has played.
With this message, we are officially closing down the nonprofit. Before we do, we have one final decision to make regarding the remaining balance of our funds. This last contribution is an opportunity to leave a positive, lasting mark on the community we’ve cared so much about.
After research and discussion, we’ve narrowed our closing project options to the following three:
Option 1: Continue exploring the naming of South Mission Beach Sportspark as “Bill Walton’s Sportspark”
We are looking into the cost, process, and feasibility of this tribute. Your vote will help us determine whether to direct our remaining funds toward this effort.
Option 2: Sponsor a utility box mural near the Sportspark
The mural would feature imagery honoring Bill Walton, along with Beach Volleyball, Basketball, and Surfing—celebrating the vibrant athletic and cultural spirit of our beach community.
Option 3: Donate the remaining funds to ongoing beach volleyball court maintenance
A simple, highly practical way to support the longevity and upkeep of the courts we’ve all enjoyed.
Could you please reply with your preferred option (1, 2, or 3)?
Your input will guide our final act of giving as we close this chapter.
Thank you, once again, for being part of this journey. It has been an honor to work alongside such thoughtful and supportive people.
Warmly,
LAURA HENDRICKSON
