Battle Scar Initiative

Battle Scar Initiative We believe some scars aren’t meant to be erased — they’re meant to be carried forward, with purpose. We’re not a clinic. We’re not a crisis line.

Founded 2020, Battle Scar - KĀKALA WELA is a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to supporting individuals & families supporting North Shore flood relief efforts, and the needs of affected families Battle Scar Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports veterans and individuals navigating life transitions through free, AI-powered tools for reflection, planning, and purpose-building. We’re a c

ommunity — built by those who’ve walked through fire, for those still finding their way forward. We create non-clinical, accessible technology that helps people journal, map their goals, and rebuild from loss with dignity — not diagnosis. Whether you’re coming out of service, sobriety, heartbreak, or just trying to start again — you don’t have to do it alone. Our mission is simple:
🧠 Tools that serve the human heart
🌊 Stories that make healing visible
🛠️ Purpose you don’t have to earn — just reclaim

This is not about being perfect. It’s about showing up — and starting forward.

What started as a simple Mother’s Day gathering turned into something much bigger, community, connection, and ohana coming together to support families still rebuilding after the floods.

Huge mahalo to everyone who came out, donated, supported the raffle, shared stories, and helped make the night special. Special thank you to Blue, Shane, and the entire and for opening your space and hearts to this mission.

Battle Scar was built on one belief:People should not have to go through hard seasons alone.

Every conversation, every donation, every shared moment helps us continue supporting local families through the Kona low recovery, resilience projects, volunteer efforts, and long-term community rebuilding.

This is what grassroots community looks like. This is what aloha looks like.

We’re just getting started.

“In all my years, I’ve never seen the water come like this.” Uncle John, Hauʻula.
Footage represents short preview of the days of sweat, mud, and kuleana. From the “Hot Zone” in Waialua to the sacred ancestral lands of the Windward side, Battlestar Initiative is on the ground.

We are here for the families who have nowhere else to go. We’re mucking out the past to save the future of these family lands.

Every dollar you donate buys the fuel, the gear, food and the time our crew needs to share your donations directly with the families affected

2:01 PM | SITUATION REPORT:
Yesterday, at exactly 2:01 PM, our team was dispatched from the “Hot Zone” in Waialua. We spent the morning deep in the thick of it pressure washing, power scrubbing, and mucking out homes where the silt was feet deep. The mud there is heavy, but the spirit of the families is heavier.
As soon as we cleared our last Waialua sector, we loaded the gear and pushed East. We drove straight to the sacred Kuleana land in Hauʻula to meet a man who defines the word “Resilience”: Uncle John.
Uncle John’s family has held this ground since the late 1800s. He’s seen a lot of Hawaii’s history, but as we stood in the mud together, he looked at the damage and told us:

“In all my years, I have never seen the water come like this. This land has never seen an impact like this.”

THE MISSION:
Battlestar Initiative isn’t just “cleaning up.” We are protecting the flank of families who have been here for generations. While the big agencies are still filling out paperwork, our veterans are on the ground with pressure washers and shovels, making sure Uncle John and his family can stay on his land

THE NORTH SHORE IS UNDERWATER. 🚨
This isn’t just a rainy day, this is the worst flooding Oʻahu has seen in over 20 years. Homes have been pushed off their foundations, families have been airlifted to safety, and right now, the entire North Shore is under a Boil Water Notice.
Battle Scar Initiative was forged in crisis, and we are partnering with local community members like and deploying NOW for organized cleanups. As community volunteers, veterans, and first responders, we appreciate your thoughts and prayers, and your donations. We are sending pumps, industrial fans, and boots on the ground to muck out homes before mold takes over.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP THE GEAR RUNNING:
💧 $7 = 1 case of clean drinking water (Critical during the boil-water mandate)
🛠️ $100 = 1 Recovery Kit (Shovels, PPE, and heavy-duty mucking tools)
⚡ $250 = Industrial Power Washer / Mud Pump rental to save a home
🛡️ $500+ = Direct financial aid for families who lost everything
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible and goes directly to the mud in Haleiwa and Waialua.
