Our partner, Cal Coast Credit Union, is celebrating one year in The Greater Logan Heights! 

For a community that has long been considered a banking desert, Cal Coast’s decision to open a branch in The Greater Logan Heights represents an important investment in greater access, opportunity and financial services close to home.

This past Saturday, we marked an important milestone in a project nearly four years in the making. 

The CommUnity Mural Kick-Off brought the community together to celebrate the people, history and culture that make Greater Logan Heights what it is.

Through an unprecedented partnership between Logan Heights CDC, a dozen local artists, and multiple public agencies — including d11caltrans, SANDAG, and the City of San Diego — these murals will transform underutilized spaces beneath the I-5 and SR-15 overpasses into vibrant public art that celebrates the past, present, and future of Logan Heights.

A huge thank you to the talented artists who are bringing these stories to life and to the more than 100 community members who came out to paint alongside them. 

Four years later, we’re not just creating a mural. We’re creating something that reflects where Logan Heights has been, where it is today and where it’s going.

This year, we welcomed 27 participating food businesses — our biggest lineup ever! From longtime neighborhood favorites to newer businesses and pop-ups, Taste of Imperial Avenue gave our community the chance to experience the incredible food, culture, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that exists right here along Imperial Avenue.

But this event is about so much more than food. In a community like Logan Heights, events like Taste create opportunities for neighbors to connect, local businesses to be seen and supported, and our community to come together and celebrate the people and places that make this neighborhood special. It’s a reminder of what we can accomplish when we invest in our small businesses and in each other.

A huge shoutout to our Title Sponsor, Comerica Bank, and to all of our sponsors and partners who helped make this year’s event possible. Your investment allows us to continue creating opportunities that highlight and support the incredible businesses and people of Logan Heights. ❤️

🎨 Be part of history. 

Join us for the CommUnity Mural Kick-Off on Saturday, August 15 and help paint a lasting tribute to the past, present and future of Greater Logan Heights! 

This isn’t just a mural — it’s an unprecedented collaboration between 12 local artists, Logan Heights CDC, Caltrans, SANDAG, the City of San Diego, and our community to transform the I-5 corridor into a vibrant work of public art. 

No artistic experience is needed! Community members of all ages are invited to help paint the mural in a fun, paint-by-number format before it’s installed.
