Hello All,
I hope everyone is safe after all the rains and that the New Year is off to a great start.
I wanted to take a minute and update you on Nourocity and the food distribution opening. We had intended to be opening by the end of this week but unfortunately I'm still awaiting approval and paperwork on the 501C3 and today I was told that it should be within the month and hopefully within a few weeks.
I am sorry for delays as I was hoping to smoothly transition but as I am finding transitions can be tricky and sometimes downright difficult. I planned everything down to the last detail when closing Auntie Helens with the last day being 12/31/2023 and a exiting the store allowing the Liquidation group to come in to do their job of auctioning and closeout sales to clear out remaining inventory. That would have made things so perfect and allowed me the long vacation I think we all know I had planned for myself. I got the call on 01/03/2024 that the Liquidaters were not going to be able to do the job (this is 3 days after they should have originally begun) because a emergency in the family.
I cancelled my plans and immmediately began working with the skeleton crew that remained to begin this long tedious process of packing up a 6500sf store and finding somewhere to store this merchandise while I found outlets to liquidate it for final bills and potentially revenues to fund the scholorship fund. I had my hands full with my own stuff related to Nourocity the first 10 days but the volunteers did a great job and we cleared out the first room for EJ to take over and lease from landlord and on the 18th I tested positive for Covid and found myself out sick. The last few volunteers worked steadily and that brings us to today as I am still clearing the remaining out and hoping to finish by 2/05/24
We never know what to expect and it's being greatful for the things that we do have. I had other problems in this process that I found just being honest and communicative was not enough as some people will kick you when you are down but No one ever said it was going to be easy.
We look forward to closure on one chapter of a amazing operation and the beginning of something fresh to help our community. Please know we are doing all we can to make this all happen in record time and I will keep everyone updated to Nourocity's start date.
