The major of San Salvador Neto Muyoshondt covers one of the murals I did while staying in El Salvador. Google translator may help with translation. This entire trip was made possible by many, however there is one person in particular who aligned it all for me. I along with jumped in and launched a residency program with him four years ago and we continued to build the program hosting many artists from around the world at his hostel in San Clemente while getting these artists walls in Los Angeles and San Diego. This trip to El Salvador was a test run to see if it would work for future international artists. Our vision was and is to beautify El Salvador and city of San Salvador particularly. To highlight social issues and spread positive art throughout that country. It was .host who made this goal possible through dedication and hard work. He continues to build that within his beautiful resort . If anyone is planning on visiting El Salvador I would highly recommend staying at . The entire staff is amazing, the food is delicious, and the rooms are comfortable. The entire resort is brilliantly designed. It’s a very special place all masterfully created by one mans vision. I want to thank Josh Host for the hospitality and dealing with a graffiti artist all these years. We made it special during those days.

More from in El Salvador

¡Majer tu voz es fuerte! translates to “women, your voice is strong” For many years, women in El Salvador have had a struggle as far as being treated equal and with respect. Painting this mural on a four story building in the heart of the city is a very loud, bold, and political statement for them. So it was an honor to have been able to achieve this. The location of this one is right in the middle of San Salvador with all main roads passing this wall. I worked four to five days on this one climbing 65ft of scaffolding and avoiding electrical wires for hours each day. The mural is all done with brushes and I had a great help from the locals. During my entire trip, it was mandatory I had soldiers and police on site for protection. Due to the nature of the work and being a foreigner from the U.S. The media in the U.S. has totally given El Salvador a false image. The country is gorgeous, the people are incredible, and San Salvador is phenomenal. Of course there are the problem areas but you will find that ANYWHERE you go in this world. MS-13 was spawned in the U.S. (Los Angeles, CA) and due to deportations, the gang multiplied and continued to grow in El Salvador. My suggestion when traveling anywhere, research the country you’re traveling to, be respectful of the locals, embrace the culture, and travel smart.

Location: Centro Historico, San Salvador. This image honors and represents the strong women of El Salvador. The ones who paint their faces with red paint in protest against the violence they have encountered many years by men but primarily gang members of (MS-13 and 18th St). This area of El Salvador used to be one of the most dangerous areas. You would not be able to walk around or enjoy the beautiful architectural buildings without being mugged or possibly murdered. Thanks to the new president of El Salvador (Nayib Bukele) , this area has cleaned up a lot and is heavily guarded with soldiers and policia. You will now find that you can visit this area and enjoy the oldest part of El Salvador, San Salvador.
Special thanks to Porticelli, Jason, Erika, and the government of El Salvador for making this happen.
If you’re planning a trip down to El Salvador I highly recommend resort. It is paradise. More work posting soon.
