ASSISTANCE LEAGUE of Capistrano

OUR HISTORY
Assistance League founder, Anne Banning, felt that it was fine to serve youth but better to let youth serve. She called on the daughters and granddaughters of Assistance League to assist in various philanthropic projects. Assisteens was first organized in 1944 with the purpose of teaching young ladies about philanthropic service and self-improvement. ASSISTEENS OF CAPISTRANO VALLEY is

an organization consisting of teens in grades 8 through 12 dedicated to community service. Monthly meetings are conducted during the school year by members (with supervision from their moms) to plan ways to serve those in need. Members implement their plans at philanthropic projects and fundraising activities that take place throughout the school year outside of regular monthly meetings. A secondary purpose of the program is to give members learning opportunities for self-improvement. Specifically, speakers who are experts in their field are invited to present topics such as self-defense, skincare, and college planning at the monthly meetings. Through their consistent participation in this 4 to 5 year program, Assisteens have opportunities for character building experiences fostering key life skills including:

ACCOUNTABILITY
COLLABORATION
COMMITMENT
EVENT PLANNING
GENEROSITY
LEADERSHIP
MENTORSHIP
ORGANIZATION
POISE
PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS
TIME MANAGEMENT

Finally, Assisteens provides an environment to build friendships, memories, and life skills that will last a lifetime.
