Backflips, otters, wipeouts, and a whole lot of ripping. 🦦🔥

USA Surfing Prime West brought the next generation to Steamer Lane over the weekend. And even with small, tricky surf, the groms found a way to light it up.

The kids are alright. 🇺🇸🌊

Encinitas’ Kaydn Persidok (Kaydn Persidok) finished second with an 8.66, Huntington Beach’s Olivia Storrer (Olivia Storrer) took third with a 5.73, and Encinitas’ Victoria Duprat (Victoria Duprat) rounded out the final.

But local girl Riviera Hunter (~Riviera Hunter~) made a serious push, dropping an 8.00 of her own and nearly stealing the top spot. She finished close behind with a 12.33.

As we all prepare for the first West Coast Prime event of the season at Steamer Lane, we’re keeping a close eye on the surf conditions for this weekend, as many of you are too. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility as we prepare for different scenarios.

We explored securing Waddell Creek as a backup location, but unfortunately, due to the short notice, we were unable to obtain the necessary backup permit.

If conditions are slow on Saturday morning, we’ll be ready to implement an adjusted schedule featuring two rounds of 15-minute heats, with semifinals and finals running 20 minutes to help us finish before the tide gets too high.

If we experience similar slower conditions on Sunday, we’ll also adjust to 15-minute heats for as many rounds as needed to keep the event moving efficiently.

We’ll share any updates and additional details in the WhatsApp channel on Friday, so please keep an eye out for the latest information.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work to make the best possible decisions for our athletes and families. We look forward to a great weekend of surfing! Let’s all hope for swell!
