We're a family-led, 501(c)(3) qualified non-profit based out of Southern California with a drive to bridge the gap between traditional and nontraditional treatments for epilepsy. Our mission is to fund research into innovative treatment for epilepsy and to offer holistic therapies for children living with epilepsy. Goals

Our current goal is to fund a clinical study into non-psychedelic medicinal

mushrooms, including but not limited to Reishi and Lions Mane for the treatment of seizures that will eventually result in the development of a mushroom-based therapeutic. In addition to research, we strive to raise enough funds to provide a seizure-alert dog for a local child suffering from intractable seizures, as well as a year of weekly lessons with PT or OT in a non-traditional therapy setting such as surf therapy, art-therapy or hippotherapy

Vision

Our vision is to improve the quality of life for those living with epilepsy through funding research into innovative treatments and holistic therapies that assist with seizure-control and provide other health benefits. Our vision is to give families better choices into treatment options for their children and to help them improve in areas such as cognitive, physical and speach through a non-traditional therapeutic environment.

I’m honored to be invited to speak at NAMC in Montreal. I’ll be speaking on Saturday, June 6, from 3:00–3:45 PM about our family’s journey with epilepsy and the path that led to the founding of Lily’s Lighthouse.

My presentation, “Functional Mushrooms Saved My Daughter’s Life – A True Story of Healing,” will share Lily’s story, the challenges we faced when conventional treatments failed, and how our search for answers inspired a mission to advance functional mushrooms research, education, and support for families navigating epilepsy.

This session is about hope, scientific inquiry, challenges faced with mushroom products, patient advocacy, and the importance of exploring all evidence-based options for improving quality of life. As I write this I learn of one of our community members who has been seizure free since April 2025 and has achieved a year milestone of seizure freedom. Its stories like this that press me forward to the importance of the work ahead and how together we can make a difference.

I look forward to connecting with old and new colleagues in the mushroom industry caregivers, researchers, and anyone interested in the future of adjunctive approaches to epilepsy care.

The PBM Rise study (Photobiomodulation: Radiant Intervention for Stress in Epilepsy) is a four-site study in Cincinnati, Houston, Warren, OH, and North Miami, administering photobiomodulation (PBM) for stress in epilepsy, and is funded by Epilepsy Wellness Advocates. Seeking adults with epilepsy for PBM Rise — a 4-site study (Cincinnati, Houston, Warren OH, North Miami) testing transcranial photobiomodulation to reduce stress and improve wellbeing.
