The City will receive public comments until FRIDAY. Please tell the City your opinion on developing the last open space in San Clemente.

This overlay shows where the SC city property is on the bluff.
The developer is asking the City of San Clemente to abandon this street and give it away to the developer to build 7-8 enormous houses. Without the city giving it away, the developer knows there is no way to squeeze all those giant houses onto the bluff (that has already had slides and lost houses).

The developers want the City to give away this open space!

Development of the bluff would require extensive caissons and artificial means to stabilize erosion. This could violate the Coastal Act.
Note the remnants of the past houses that already slid off the bluff. And, notice all the people who enjoy the grand Pacific sunsets...keep the bluff open!

Just above “The Hole” beach in San Clemente stands a promontory known locally as “the bluff” or “the point. This fragile yet beautiful slice of nature has been enjoyed by locals for decades - ever since development proved to be futile after devastating landslides.

The people of San Clemente come here on foot, on bicycle, with furry friends and with surfboards, to make their way to the beach below or to enjoy the breathtaking view of the Pacific.

However, the threat of development could lead to further landslides and disruption, and destruction.

Attempting to build structures here would inevitably threaten the lives of people, animals, and even the train tracks below.
