Meet our newest facilitator for our Adjusting to Postpartum peer support group, Carmen Stramara! Carmen is a postpartum doula based in Orange County, and we are so lucky to have her on our team.

Join us this Friday, July 15 as Carmen leads us through a discussion on why community is essential to our collective wellbeing, strategies on how to build strong community, and address the extra load it can place on parenthood.

Here’s more on Carmen in her own words:

"My family’s lifestyle has required us to move 7 times over the past 10 years which has highlighted the importance of feeling connected and helped refine the skill of building community. I believe having a strong and reciprocal community is the golden key to collective health and wellbeing."

On Friday 6/24 at our Adjusting to Postpartum peer support group, we will have the opportunity to discuss some themes represented in the film “The Lost Daughter” (Netflix), written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. Our fellow mama, the lovely and insightful will lead this discussion.

According to film reviewer, Peg Aloi, this is a story very much about women, the roles we inhabit, the expectations society has of us, the pressure we feel to conform, to perform, to control and be controlled. If you need access to view this film, please reach out!

We will provide discussion questions later this week if you are on our mailing list for this support group. Sign up with the link in profile if you’d like to join us!

Hello February! Swipe through to see details of our happenings this month and……We are excited to share OUR NEWEST SUPPORT GROUP: BLENDED and BRILLIANT. This new offering is space to connect, share, and be supported in the unique role of step-parenting/raising children within blended family dynamics.

Blended & Brilliant is facilitated by Kathleen Reed (). Kathleen was born into a blended family of origin, and her experience in this space was further broadened when she met her now husband, who had two young children from a prior relationship.

Today she is stepmom to a 15 year old stepdaughter & 12 year old stepson, and mama to a 2 year old son that she gave birth to in 2019.

Kathleen brings to the group a passion for learning, an appreciation for depth of personal connections, and a sense of purpose in her desire to open up the dialogue and normalize the emotions & feelings experienced within the constructs of blended family dynamics. Questions welcomed, just send us a dm!

Too good to not repost and JP’s upcoming offering: Bringing Baby Home. For new and expecting couples, this is a must! Christa and JP are the warmest, realest and most welcoming facilitators to help guide new parents into the transition of a growing family and partnership. Christa’s words below ⬇️

Our next Bringing Baby Home virtual class begins next Tuesday 1/25 at 5:30pm. This course was incredibly valuable to John Paul and I when we transitioned to parenthood. It’s a beautiful opportunity to deepen your friendship as a couple before or soon after your baby arrives.

As the  says, “Even the strongest relationships are strained during the transition to parenthood. Lack of sleep, never-ending housework and new fiscal concerns can lead to profound stress and a decline in marital satisfaction — all of which affect baby’s care.

Not surprisingly, 69% of new parents experience conflict, disappointment, and hurt feelings.”

Invest in your family, yourself + your partnership. We’d be honored to support you on this journey.
