So many people who talk to me about Kenya often start the conversation with something like “Isnt it too hot there with it being on the equator? - well look at these Maasai Mara temps for the next 10days! . Heck of a lot better than ours in most of California. Of course you have to consider altitude in weather expectations and where I go in the Maasai Mara we are at 6100 feet altitude. It even gets too cold at times - at least for the locals not we English!!!

I fail to understand why everything is so difficult these days. My phone hasn’t been working for a long time so when I talked to my phone company today I decided to change to a different company -the one I used to have. So I phoned their office which is about 30 miles away and I was assured it was an easy transaction, so I drove all the way - went in - the guy behind the counter was waiting for me. I was about 40 minutes into transferring data when he stopped suddenly, and said “oh oh we can’t complete it “. I asked what on earth he was talking about. He said because I’d used this company in the past I could not go back to them now? This is after I talked to him on the phone and drove 30 miles and sat at his desk for 40+ minutes. Now I’m back home with a faulty phone and don’t know what company to phone now to get service overseas when I’m in Kenya. It should have been such an easy day!!!!!

It’s hard to believe what I’m going to share with you but it happened and I just can’t believe it. My bank has gone out of business and has been purchased by JP Morgan/Chase. So far ok! As of May 24 my bank was out of business and everything we had in it was moving seamlessly to Chase. Still ok, before I came here to Kenya I sent a letter to Chase telling them I’d be back end of June and would come into the local branch to arrange transfer of my funds to a new bank Ive chosen to work with. Today I got a message from my daughter asking if a very high amount CD that just turned up in her bank account had anything to do with me? Well yes! So somehow Chase managed to move my CD and put it in my daughter’s bank account when it has zero to do with her. Can you believe that - at least she’s a relative and will return it, but really?!?!?! How does a bank make such a huge error . I can’t get over it at all.

This bird has an odd name - it’s called a spotted thicknee. Who makes these things up? and their knees don’t look thick to me!!!!’

Tirian found these 1 week (or so) old lion cubs - they are still blind at this age. Hard to get clear pics as she has them hidden in quite thick brush - so these are the best three I was able to get

I love to see these pictures - these come from the greenhouse we provided for the school with about 700 students - now they have cabbage and spinach to complement their daily meals. Why can’t their government do this??
