😱 ☠️🪧 NOTHING SCARIER THAN BAD-FAITH BARGAINING

Wi******er Mystery House Teamsters are on an unfair labor practice strike! The tour guides have been in negotiations for more than a year while management drags their feet. The ULP strike comes after management failed to discuss the usage of tour guides’ images and likeness at the bargaining table, instead approaching tour guides directly and having them sign waivers.

Teamster tour guides are fighting for:

➡️ Fair wages to address cost-of-living issues in the Bay Area
➡️ Longevity pay for tour guides who have worked more than 10 years
➡️ Reasonable health benefit stipends for part-time employees
➡️ Small tour sizes for a better guest experience and safety

This week, Local 856 Principal Officer Peter Finn, who also serves as the Teamsters National Public Services and Health Care Division Director, led the division’s annual conference. The event gathered hundreds of Teamsters together to strategize on continuing to lead the fight for strong contracts for the more than 270,000 public services, health care, and nonprofit members across the country.

Local 856 represents more 10,000 hardworking public services, health care, and nonprofit members who keep our communities safe, healthy, and running.

Teamsters are committed to winning strong contracts, aggressively enforcing those agreements, and continuing to organize new members into the union so all workers may enjoy the benefits of a being a Teamster.

👷‍♂️ Putting Safety First! 👷‍♀️
For the first time, MDUSD Teamsters 856 members are receiving safety shoes as a negotiated benefit in their contract! 🥾

This important win helps ensure our members have the proper footwear they need to stay safe on the job.
“Coming from the public sector, I know firsthand how important having the right equipment is to keeping our members safe. That’s why it was important to me to get safety shoes into our contract,” said Teamsters 856 Representative Ed Moore.

🥳 ✊ CELEBRATING LOCAL 856 SHOP STEWARDS: On Saturday, we held Shop Steward Appreciation Day – our annual event to recognize the dedication and commitment of our Teamsters 856 stewards to keep our union strong!

We heard from: Attorney Susan Garea on strike readiness, Matt Broad from Teamsters California on the passage of SIX Teamster priority bills this legislative session, and discussed the importance of passing Prop. 40 to keep hospitals open and protect good, union jobs before wrapping up the day with awards and raffles.

🙏 Thank you to the over 250 shop stewards who made it out on Saturday and TO EVERY Local 856 steward. You work hard, fight smart and it’s making a real difference in the lives of your Teamster co-workers.

✊ Wi******er Mystery House Tour Guides Are Fighting for Their First Union Contract!

Teamsters Local 856 tour guides Evelyn Rios and Emma Garcia Jones met with State Senator David Cortese this week to build a larger support network for their fight for a first contract.

The tour guides shared their experiences with large tour groups, disorderly guests, safety concerns, and low pay—issues they want addressed at the bargaining table.

It has been nearly one year since Wi******er Mystery House tour guides voted to affiliate with Teamsters Local 856, and they are still waiting for their first contract.

Our members deserve a fair contract that recognizes the important work they do every day. We’re standing with Evelyn, Emma, and all Wi******er Mystery House tour guides as they continue to fight for a first contract. 💪
