Please save the date — Wednesday, October 28, 2026 — as we gather with friends, partners, supporters, volunteers, and members of our community for La Posada Providencia’s Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

This celebration is about more than a ribbon. It is an opportunity to recognize the many people and organizations who have walked alongside La Posada and helped make our mission of welcoming the stranger possible.

We look forward to celebrating this new chapter together, in collaboration with the Greater Chamber of Harlingen.

Building partnerships, strengthening our community.

Today, we had the honor of welcoming Chief Mario Perea and Captain Michael Cortez from the San Benito Police Department to La Posada Providencia.

During their visit, we shared our mission, gave them a tour of our campus, and talked about ways we can work together to better serve individuals and families experiencing crisis in our community. We also discussed future opportunities for collaboration, including safety training and other initiatives that will help us continue providing a safe and welcoming environment for our guests.

One of the most memorable moments of the day happened outside the meeting room. Chief Perea and Captain Cortez took time to meet our guests and even joined them for a friendly game of co****le. It was a simple moment, but one that reflected something important: meaningful partnerships begin by building relationships.

We are grateful for their time, their willingness to learn more about our work, and their commitment to working alongside organizations that serve our community.

Together, we can build a stronger, safer, and more compassionate Rio Grande Valley.

Thank you, Chief Perea and Captain Cortez, for your visit. We look forward to all that we can accomplish together!

Congratulations Dominique Campos, the new Executive Director of La Posada Providencia, and thank you Sister Nora for all your work as interim director! We are inspired by your vision to strengthen our partnership and explore ways to better support immigrants and their families in our community. Summer at a shelter doesn't have to fit the stigma... we would like to thank everyone for your continued support of our mission to Welcome the stranger and Make a difference.

Your support makes all the difference in allowing us to bring normalcy and dignity to our care of individuals facing homelessness and seeking asylum while they work on gaining stability in their lives. 🫶
