Women Veterans of San Antonio

Women Veterans of San Antonio Women Veterans network, socialize, volunteer, and give back to the Veteran community while bringing public awareness to the specific issues of Women Veterans.

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(19) organization that serves, honors and empowers Women Veterans from all eras and branches of service. This is accomplished by providing our women Veterans opportunities to network, socialize, volunteer, and give back to the Veteran community while bringing public awareness to the specific issues of Women Veterans. OUR GOAL: We aim to provide the Women Veterans who live

in our communities with opportunities to network and rekindle the bonds of sisterhood, camaraderie, and connection through meaningful interaction. OUR VISION: The WVSA supports women Veterans experiencing a challenging reintegration into civilian life by providing them with personal, meaningful interaction, and by connecting them to their communities through networking, volunteerism, and social activities. We also aim to educate the public, and our peers, with the realization that "Women Are Veterans Too." OUR HISTORY: The WVSA was founded in 2013 as a social group on meetup.com by an Active Duty woman who knew that she would soon retire. That is why we also welcome females still serving on Active Duty, Reserves, and Guard. By 2015, the group grew into something more and the decision was made to become a nonprofit organization. In September of 2016, the Women Veterans of San Antonio became a recognized nonprofit. We are continuing to grow and evolve as an organization. As of February 2020, we have just over 800 women Veterans within our organization. Join our Sisterhood: https://www.meetup.com/Women-Veterans-of-San-Antonio/

Here’s another myth worth debunking. 🇺🇸

Many people believe military funeral honors are only available for veterans who choose a traditional burial. That’s simply not true.

Eligible veterans have earned the right to military funeral honors through their honorable service—not by the type of final disposition they choose.

Whether a veteran is:
🇺🇸 Buried in a cemetery
⚱️ Cremated with a memorial service
🌿 Remembered during a scattering ceremony
🕊️ Inurned in a columbarium
🏡 Or even honored at a memorial service with their urn present at home

…they may still be eligible to receive military funeral honors.

Every veteran’s final wishes are personal. Our mission is to help ensure those wishes can be honored while also recognizing their service to our nation with the dignity and respect they have earned.

Please help us spread the word. Someone you know may not realize their loved one is eligible.

Honor Every Veteran. Every Time.

One of WVSA's newest members welcomed us into her home for a clothing swap and brunch! She generously opened her doors so we could trade clothes, accessories, and other quality items we no longer needed for new-to-us finds from each other. It was such a great way to declutter, save money, and refresh our wardrobes, all while spending quality time with the wonderful women of WVSA. Anything left over was donated to a local women's shelter. Thank you for the delicious brunch and for hosting such a lovely event!
