Our Story
Many people get a service animal because they think that is what they need. The problem there is this: having a service dog without being in active therapy is the same as self medicating. The process of mental health therapy is a delicate dance and the fact that people everywhere are popping up with a service animal is disturbing. While we are not saying that you cannot make that decis
ion to have a service dog without being active therapy, we are saying that our programs are based on that and will not be a good fit for you and your service partner. J10 International works only with licensed therapists in their respective states and only the very best trainers. We understand that our fur friends take on whatever issues we have and it is imperative that the proposed need of the individual does not outweigh the needs of the fur partner and overwhelm the team. It is understood that many will not agree, and that is alright, however these are some of the things that one needs to know before jumping on the service animal bandwagon. The service animal is a priority in the household, a family member and should be treated as such. Things such as updated shot and medical records are a priority. They must be clean as much as possible, all the time when accompanying in public. They must be properly acclimated to their job, places, environment, you just can't jump out all at one. It is a process and it is a long one. Their needs must be considered above all. Some animals can do the job of a service dog, some just can't. You must consider the elements, if it raining, hot or any kind of inclement weather, you must be prepared. Where and when do they eat or use the restroom, and where are these places located? That is just a little bit of the tip of the iceberg. J10 want to organize and change laws to protect the teams. Further, what does one do with the animal when the animal no longer meets their needs? This population needs protection and therefore the rules on engagement must hold everyone to a standard. The states have not gotten their yet, but this organization has.
