Let's talk about the Women’s Army Corps (WAC)!

Established during WWII, the WAC was the first time women (other than nurses) served within the ranks of the U.S. Army. They faced skepticism, but they proved their absolute necessity, serving overseas in North Africa, Europe, and the Pacific. Today, women serve in every Army branch and specialty.

Today, we were honored to receive a charitable donation of over $12,000 from The American Legion Department of Michigan in support of the Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America (MPVA).

The check was presented by Dan Cooper, Immediate Past Commander of the American Legion Department of Michigan, to Bob Vance, Vice President of MPVA. Also pictured are Brian VanSingel, MPVA Executive Director, and Brenda Wheater, MPVA Office Manager.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Dan Cooper, who nominated MPVA as the beneficiary of this fundraising effort. Dan recognized that MPVA and the hundreds of paralyzed veterans we serve throughout Michigan represent a deserving cause that is too often overlooked in favor of more widely known charitable organizations.

This generous support directly strengthens our ability to serve paralyzed veterans and their families across Michigan. We are grateful for the American Legion Department of Michigan’s continued commitment to honoring and supporting those who have served.
