🏠 Did you know? Right here in San Antonio, thousands of kids don’t have a bed of their own to sleep in.
Nationally, roughly 2–3% of American children are without a bed — and more than 100,000 kids across the country are waiting on one tonight. That gap shows up close to home too: 18.5% of children in San Antonio live in poverty, and 21.1% of kids in Bexar County face food insecurity (Children At Risk, 2026).
That’s where Sleep In Heavenly Peace (SHP) comes in. Their mission: “No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town.” Volunteers build the bed frames, deliver them, and set them up — no cost to the family.
And SHP San Antonio is proving what community can do: this year, our local chapter celebrated its 10,000th bed built and delivered. 🎉 That’s 10,000 kids who now have a safe, comfortable place to sleep — but it also shows just how great the need still is.
Because a bed isn’t just furniture. It’s better sleep, better focus, and a better shot at doing well in school. It’s stability for a family facing housing insecurity. It’s a kid finally getting to just be a kid.
Our YMSL Alamo Chapter is proud to stand behind SHP’s mission this year. 🛏️💙
