🚨 Attention Volunteers: Due to inclement weather, City of San Antonio Animal Care Services Pet Care Connect volunteer opportunity has been rescheduled to Wednesday, June 3!

🐾 COMMUNITY ACTION VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 🐾

ACS’s Pet Care Connect Program is heading to District 4 on Wednesday, June 3 from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, and they are looking for compassionate community members ready to make a real difference for pets and families across San Antonio.

As a Community Action Volunteer, you’ll help bring vital pet resources directly into the community—helping pets stay safe, cared for, and with the families who love them.

Volunteers will help:
🐶 Distribute pet food and pet care supplies
📣 Share resources and information with pet owners in the community

Every conversation, every resource, and every helping hand makes an impact. Even just a few hours of your time can help keep pets in loving homes.

Mrs. Mendez, after reading the article about you and your family, it just reminded all of us how truly amazing you are. The love, hard work, and dedication you have poured into both Mendez Cafe and the Quintana neighborhood have touched so many lives. Everyone in our community loves and respects you because you genuinely care about people and always give your absolute best in everything you do. Thank you for all the help, kindness, and support you have given to the Quintana Neighborhood Association throughout the years. And a special thank you to your husband as well for always standing beside you and helping in every way possible. Together, you both are such a blessing to our community. ❤️

Dolores Mendez started Mendez Cafe in 1986. It nearly failed. Forty years later, doors remain open with the support of her daughter.
