Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a nonprofit organization located in South Central Texas and is dedicated to the health, welfare and happiness of our dachshund friends. Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is an all-volunteer group in the heart of Texas that is dedicated to the health, welfare, and happiness of our dachshund friends. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. As such, we must r

ely heavily on donations and contributions, which are a necessity in order to continue to be able to pay the costs of veterinary care and other necessary expenses for each of our dachshunds. Diamond Dachshund has rescued, rehabilitated and placed from 100 to 200 dachshunds each year since our incorporation in 2003. We strive to find the right home for each dog's individual personality and needs so that the placement is permanent and both the dogs and the families who adopt them are equally happy.

Meet Nutmeg Cider.

Nutmeg is a 2-year-old female doxie mix. She was found as a stray and trusting humans is new to her. She is great with dogs. She loves other dogs! Oh and she is also potty trained. She knows how to use a doggy door now too. She loves chasing squirrels, sunbathing, and sitting on the patio steps and looking up at the stars. Once she started to get comfortable in her foster home she learned she loves playing with toys! Nutmeg would do better in a home without any children. She would thrive in a home with other dog siblings, a quiet atmosphere, and a new forever mommy or daddy that would be willing to be very patient with her.

Nutmeg has been with DDRTX for more than 200 days. She is one of the Long Stay dogs we're highlighting over the next several weeks. Her Adoption Rate has been reduced to $200 for a limited time. She's ready to find a home to call her own.

We recently introduced you to our Country Music Star pups. Here is a brief update on George Strait. King George has received his critical vet care. He is settling into his foster home nicely. He enjoys playing with all the toys he can find.

George is still very young. Around 8-months-old. He is currently on Sponsorship as he undergoes his treatment. Meet beautiful Brin Joy.

Brin Joy is a sweet 8-year-old full dachshund. Brin can be a bit shy at first, but she warms up quickly. She loves to snuggle under a blanket and she even sleeps with her head on a pillow, like a person. She is a very sweet girl who loves any and all affection. She does well with dogs of different sizes and energy levels. We have learned that Brin enjoys the comfort another dog in the home, especially when her humans are gone. She loves squeaky toys. And her left ear seems to be permanently sticking straight up which is very, very cute.

This sweet boy loves belly rubs, enjoys being close to his people, and is happiest when he's right in the middle of whatever is going on. Meet Barq's Root Beer.

Barq’s is a calm, sweet pup that loves to play! He LOVES squeaky toys and chasing around the yard. He also loves being cuddled. A warm lap is his favorite. He will lay beside you or cuddle up beside another pup. He is very easy going and very loving.
Barq’s Root Beer is a sweet 1 year old boy that was in the shelter with his mom and 2 sisters in his litter. He had a dachshund mix-mom, who is a dachshund/chihuahua mix. His short fur is red and he has a black muzzle and tail. He has the cutest dachshund ears.
