They say when you work in your passion, you never work a day in your life. I feel that every single day. Whether I'm in my professional role or leading Putt Away Cancer, the heartbeat is the same: giving back and being a voice for the voiceless.

Community is at the heart of everything we do at The Putt Away Cancer Foundation. Today, we are thrilled to announce that Zeitgeist Wellness Group has joined our mission as a Community Partner Sponsor for our 10th Anniversary Circle of HOPE Banquet.

Their support helps us continue to honor Texas cancer Warriors with the Crystal D. Branner Circle of HOPE Award (Circle of HOPE Award). This recognition accompanies a financial donation and celebrates the incredible tenacity and resilience of those facing a cancer diagnosis, providing a reminder that they are surrounded by a community that cares.

We are honored to have Zeitgeist Wellness Group stand with us as we prepare for this milestone celebration on May 2nd. Together, we are making a lasting impact on the cancer community by inspiring HOPE, encouraging FAITH, and promoting LIFE.

April shines a light on cancers that deserve more attention, more research, and more voices speaking up.
This month, we raise awareness for:

• Esophageal Cancer
• Testicular Cancer
• Head & Neck Cancer
• Minority Cancer Awareness (because equity in care matters)

Each of these represents real people. Real families. Real stories.
Some are often diagnosed too late
Some impact younger adults in the prime of life
Some are preventable or detectable early
And some highlight the urgent need to close gaps in care and outcomes

At Say Yes to Hope, we believe:
Awareness leads to action
Action leads to change
Change leads to HOPE

This April, you can make a difference:
✔️ Start a conversation
✔️ Encourage screenings
✔️ Support someone navigating cancer
✔️ Support SayYestoHope.org

Because when we raise awareness, we raise hope!

As we wrap up March, I am reflecting on the incredible strength witnessed during Women's History Month. It has been a beautiful time honoring the women who paved the way while we continue building a brighter future for our cancer warriors.

Putt Away Cancer is proud to be a woman-led organization. We are mothers, grandmothers, entrepreneurs, and leaders committed to inspiring hope and promoting life. Our strength is fueled by our community and the resilience of the warriors we support every day.

Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for the Circle of HOPE Banquet on May 2nd. We will present our Crystal D. Branner Circle of HOPE Awards, a recognition that accompanies a financial donation for Texas cancer warriors. This Award is given based on a cancer diagnosis and is not an achievement award. Instead, we center our message on the tenacity and resilience shown by these warriors.

We cannot wait to gather and celebrate together. Thank you for standing with us this month and every month.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Today is all about Soul-Care. Taking a moment to breathe, reflect, and recharge is essential for our well-being. Whether you’re a Cancer Warrior, a survivor, or a supporter, remember that your peace is a priority.

Take some time today for yourself: maybe a quiet walk, a good book, or just a few moments of silence. You are worthy of rest.

As we look forward to the week ahead, let’s carry that sense of HOPE and FAITH with us.

And if you’re looking for a way to give back while you recharge, grab your tickets for our 10th-anniversary celebration! Every ticket helps us continue our mission. This link can be used to purchase tickets, buy an ad, or make a donation.

At The Putt Away Cancer Foundation, we believe that hope should have no barriers. As we observe National Deaf History Month, we want to reaffirm our commitment to inclusivity within our cancer warrior network. A cancer diagnosis is overwhelming on its own, and navigating healthcare and support systems can be even more challenging for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. We are here to listen, to learn, and to ensure that every warrior has a seat at the table.

Whether you are seeking the Crystal D. Branner Circle of HOPE Award or looking for a community that understands your journey, know that you are not alone. Our mission is to inspire HOPE, encourage FAITH, and promote LIFE for everyone impacted by cancer, regardless of how they communicate. Together, we can break down walls and build a stronger, more inclusive circle of support.

Let’s talk about a myth that needs to be cleared up: I’m too young for colorectal cancer.

It is a common misconception, but the reality is that early-onset colorectal cancer is on the rise. At Putt Away Cancer, we see firsthand that a diagnosis does not look at an ID card. Whether you are in your 20s, 30s, or 40s, awareness is your best tool.

If something feels off with your body, please do not brush it off because of your age. Early detection saves lives, and knowing the signs is the first step. We are here to inspire hope, encourage faith, and promote life for every warrior, no matter where they are in their journey.

Together, we can break the stigma and stay informed. Share this with someone who needs a gentle reminder that age is just a number, but health is a priority. We are in this together.

HOPE and science of epigenetics

Marissa McKinnies & Leilani Davis (McKinnies), our Founder and Co-Founder’s Cancer story began many generations ago. Beginning with the paternal grandmother, aunts, and female cousins diagnosed with breast, ovarian, thyroid, and colon cancer. Leilani, our co-founder, discovered she had ovarian cancer at the tender age of 30. After watching her suffer for ½ a decade, Marissa decided to show support through learning ways to inspire HOPE. After all, the science of epigenetics proposed that your genes are greatly influences by your disposition, good or bad. In essence, feeding your soul with purpose and HOPE can heal the emptiness, the fear, and the spirit of defeat experienced by those suffering cancer. In a dream, Marissa was given the vision of Putt Away Cancer. The premises of our organization is simple, we support HOPE through giving. Why? Because cancer warriors battle confusion and tough decisions of how to pay for things needed outside of medical bills because insurance doesn’t always cover everything. And no one can really prepare for the possibility of a cancer diagnosis or any other catastrophic illness. So to honor Leilani’s battle, Marissa conceived the Putt Away Cancer Foundation which takes a community approach to bring awareness to the many spiritual and emotional struggles Cancer Warriors battle, not just the medical diagnosis itself. While supporting research is necessary, the Putt Away Cancer Foundation is about the individual warriors and not about research. All our fundraisers go to those that are being impacted. The Circle of HOPE Award is a financial donation for Cancer Warriors to use at their own discretion and the Linda C. Bryant HOPE Scholarship is a onetime book scholarship for Texas high school seniors going to college. Fundraiser events and donations provide for the donations that are granted. We are a family organization and host family events, because Cancer is bigger than one person. The smile on Leilani’s face and her determination to live with stage 4 cancer on purpose to inspire shows the power of HOPE. Visit our website: www.puttawaycancer.com for more information.
