It may not be officially spring yet, but this warmer weather has come just in time for us to use the outdoor teaching kitchen here at the Bexar County Greenies Urban Farm!

Each week this month our EFNEP team will be demonstrating basic cooking skills, food safety, and most importantly how to cook delicious and healthy tacos during this one time series dubbed Taco Tuesday!

Each week they will be covering a different protein source and providing excellent tips on how to make tacos healthy, tasty, and easy on the wallet, happening only at the farm so do not pass up this opportunity!

Be sure to reach out to the Bexar County AgriLife Extension office at 210-631-0400 for more information about this and all the other programs we have going on at the farm!

EFNEP Bexar County enjoyed doing what we do best and providing quality education around cooking and nutrition to two Northside ISD departments earlier this week!

Our adult staff provided valuable information around knife skills, recipe preparation, and establishing a strong team mindset to NISD Child Nutrition Services.

Our youth staff gave insight into how we teach older youth groups nutrition by displaying both digital and hands on activities to use in the classroom to Northside ISD Physical Education.

Thank you to both departments for the invitation and all the hard work they are doing for the students and families in their district!

We have had a great start to the new year working with the parents at Neil Armstrong Elementary with South San Antonio ISD!

In our first lesson we talk about setting better health goals. The difference between a good goal and a better goal is that a better goal is clear, measurable, and realistic.

A good goal is "I will be physically active"
A better goal is "I will do 30 minutes of body weight exercises 3 times this week.

We helped with that goal by doing some stretching and light physical activity during class, every little bit counts!

We are excited to be here and wanted to share the inaugural recipe that our staff made here at the farm, the Carrot Pineapple Bread!

Spring has sprung and with that we are concluding a few of our winter groups with AVANCE-San Antonio, Inc.!

We are very proud of the participants who were able to attend any of the classes during the series!

Pictured are parents going through a physical activity, recipe demonstration, and graduates with certificates of achievement. All of which are hallmarks of our EFNEP programs.

Additionally we would like to thank the site leadership at the Cortez, Gardendale, and Fenley sites that have helped us through our programs this past series. We could not make these impacts without your contributions!
