🎠One month ago today, Saints for Today took the stage.
With a little distance from August 15—and after listening to our artists and audience, reviewing their feedback, and completing our Impact Report—we've had the opportunity to reflect on what this first Saints for Today taught us.
An inaugural production is both a creation and an experiment. You begin with an artistic idea, gather people around it, put it before an audience—and then listen.
Saints for Today affirmed something important for The Great Commission Theatre: stories can create meaningful space for conversations about faith, holiness, and the human experience.
It also taught us that clarity matters. The stories we presented centered largely on contemporary people wrestling with deeply human circumstances. The saints informed our larger exploration of holiness, but they were not necessarily the subjects of the plays themselves. That distinction became clearer through producing the work and listening to our audience.
We learned about the importance of the entire audience journey—from how we describe the work, to how it is staged and heard, to the conversation that follows.
Create. Listen. Evaluate. Learn.
One month later, we are proud of what this community created and grateful for everything this inaugural production taught us.
