Today, and every day, LULAC 22198 - Orgullo de San Antonio & LGBTQVoces Council #22439 Honors the ๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ ๐ž๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐‹๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐จ ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง, and all whoโ€™ve stood in defense of this nation โ€” from its earliest battles to our present day.
Our communities have always been on the frontlines: ๐ฌ๐ž๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ , ๐ฌ๐š๐œ๐ซ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ๐ข๐ง๐ , ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ก๐š๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐š๐œ๐ฒ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ, even when so many of our stories were erased, overlooked, or left untold.

This year especially โ€” amid all that our nationโ€™s most vulnerable communities are facing โ€” we pause to recognize not just service, but the quiet resilience it takes to serve a nation that does not always see or celebrate you.

To include every service member who honorably served during the time of ๐ƒ๐จ๐งโ€™๐ญ ๐€๐ฌ๐ค, ๐ƒ๐จ๐งโ€™๐ญ ๐“๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ (๐ƒ๐€๐ƒ๐“), and the ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐ฒ ๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐œ๐ž๐ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฃ๐ฎ๐๐ข๐œ๐ž๐ฌ โ€”
your bravery was not only required on the battlefield, but in the act of existing authentically in a world that demanded your silence.
So today we remember the many

many who fought for a country that did not always fight for them,
many who would return home to communities wrestling for dignity and basic equality,
Who watched others flourish for generations because of benefits not granted to them simply because of the color of their skin.
Yet lived with their heads held high, carrying their service with pride โ€” even when their names were not written into history.

We honor the countless ๐’—๐’†๐’•๐’†๐’“๐’‚๐’๐’” ๐’ƒ๐’๐’“๐’ ๐’•๐’ ๐’Š๐’Ž๐’Ž๐’Š๐’ˆ๐’“๐’‚๐’๐’• ๐’‘๐’‚๐’“๐’†๐’๐’•๐’” โ€” who chose to serve a nation their families once journeyed towards with nothing but hopes and dreams.
Their uniforms serving as the price of citizenship, paid for with blood, sweat, and tears.

We honor the ๐’„๐’‰๐’Š๐’๐’…๐’“๐’†๐’ ๐’ƒ๐’๐’“๐’ ๐’Š๐’ ๐’…๐’Š๐’‡๐’‡๐’†๐’“๐’†๐’๐’• ๐’๐’‚๐’•๐’Š๐’๐’๐’” who stepped into the ranks of the Armed Forces, earning the title of โ€˜Americanโ€™ through service, duty, and devotion.

Their loyalty, commitment, and sacrifice do not disappear simply because the nation failed to care for them with the dignity they earned, and care they were promised.
