Bacon Bash Texas /
Nikki Warms the Cold Fundraiser

Yesterday we rode up to Cranfills Gap, TX for the Nikki Warms the Cold Fundraiser / Bacon Bash Texas! We rode up to the Festival to present Sandi Carlson a donation for Niki Warms the Cold. Sandi is the Mother of the Late Niki Carlson, Founder of the Organization. Niki Warms the Cold raises funds to give out Blankets and Coats to people in need during the Winter months so nobody goes cold! This festival is a major fundraiser for the Organization and celebrates BACON and everything you can do with it! We ate Bacon Brisket Cowboy Beans, Bacon Andouille Bites, Bacon Ice Cream, Bacon Poppers, Bologna and Bacon Sandwich, Bacon Peach Cobbler, Bacon Pumpkin Pie and a few others we didn't have the courage to try! It was a beautiful day for a 400 mile round trip through the Texas Hill Country and up to the Grand Prairie Region of Texas and back home. Thank you to all the Members and Guest Riders for showing up on a cool, brisk sunny day! The Bacon Bash is definitely one of those Annual Events that we will continue to attend!

Eagle Pass Getaway Ride
Day 2

Day 2 started early with the complementary Breakfast at the hotel. After Breakfast, we loaded our luggage on our bikes and headed over to Shelby Park on the Rio Grange River across from the City of Piedras Negras, Mexico. We took a bunch of pics of the river and chatted with Members of the Texas National Guard that were standing watch along that stretch of the river. After the Park, we rode over to Fort Duncan to explore the history of this old Army Fort, (thanks Tony Morin for the tour of Eagle Pass and the history lesson about Mexican Banditos)!
After the tour of old Eagle Pass, it was time for the ride home! The weather was absolutely beautiful for our 2-day ride and I'm pretty sure everyone wants to do it again. This was BK TX IV's second multi-day ride I've been on and it was definitely as awesome as the first one! Can't wait till the next one of these!

Eagle Pass Getaway Ride
Day 1

This morning the group met at Sammy's Cafe in Castroville, TX for Breakfast! We had a good, hearty, Country Breakfast and then blasted off. We had a pit stop in Uvalde, TX for fuel and a PR break before continuing on to Eagle Pass, TX to check into our hotel. We bribed the Hotel Manager Isabelle to let us check into our rooms at Noon instead of 3pm! All she needed was a ride on a Harley Davidson to let us all have our rooms early! After check-in, we all went to the Wagon Wheel Restaurant to try the largest chicken fried steak we've ever seen! (A quarter of that chicken fried steak is the size of regular restaurant's chicken fried steaks)! We met a Member of the Thin Blue Line LE MC (Josh) at the restaurant and invited him to join us for lunch. Once we filled our bellies, we headed over to the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino for a few hours! We got back to the hotel about 7pm for "Social Hour" that lasted well into the night! Day 1 ended late but it was a fantastic day!

45th Annual Medina Lake Cajun Festival

Today the Blue Knights Crew managed the parking for the 4th year in a row. We parked maybe 700 vehicles today on about 15 acres of grass and dust fields and provided free shuttle service from parking lots to the front gate (thank you Samantha and Hopes)! It was a little hotter this year but everyone knows how to stay hydrated and take breaks. We rotated personel out and never left anyone hanging. We took our Raffle prizes and did quite well selling Raffle Tickets! (Thank you Renee and Rosie for a great job with that!) Everyone had a great time and as always, laughs were constant throughout the day! Thank you to all the Members that showed up to volunteer for this event! Time to call it a night.
