We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the students from three different local San Antonio schools, St. Mary's University , Central Catholic High School - San Antonio, TX and The Winston School San Antonio for their commitment to serving our community. Students from St. Mary's University were taking part in their St Mary's Continuing the Heritage Day.

Students recently came together to make a difference at Guadalupe Community Center, and St. Stephens CARE Center. At Guadalupe Community Center students assisted in the garden, helping care for space that serves our community and supplies food for St. Stephens CARE Center. At St Stephens CARE Center, they stocked shelves, packed care packages and helped prepare essential items for clients. Students from St. Mary's University were taking part in their St Mary's Continuing the Heritage Day. A tradition that has been connected with Catholic Charities for many years, and we are so happy they are joining us again this year for their annual Continue the Heritage Day.

Their service is a wonderful reminder of what we can accomplish when our community comes together, to learn more about how you can volunteer your time visit our website; www.ccaosa.

Archbishop’s Pastoral Letter, We Will Come to You: United in Solidarity with Our Brothers and Sisters in Migration, is out and available for pickup at Catholic Charities locations. Pick up yours today!

Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, released it on the 100th anniversary of San Antonio’s elevation to a metropolitan archdiocese, as the nation marks 250 years of independence. Amid widespread fear among immigrant families and unprecedented immigration enforcement, he calls for renewed discernment and pastoral accompaniment.

“Families we know by name are now afraid to come to the sacraments. Like the Good Samaritan who drew near to the wounded, we cannot walk past them,” said Archbishop Gustavo. “I write to console the suffering, to awaken the indifferent, and to confront injustice with the courage the Gospel demands.”

The letter outlines four pillars:
- Human Dignity: every person, regardless of legal status, bears the image of God and an inviolable dignity.
- Encounter with Christ: in welcoming the migrant to welcome, protect, promote, and integrate — we meet Christ Himself.
- A Church That Goes Forth: parishes and families are called to accompaniment, from Know Your Rights formation to ministry with the detained.
- The Common Good: an appeal to civic leaders on the non-negotiable principles of dignity, family unity, and due process.
Parishes, Catholic schools, and campus ministries will receive a reflection guide and liturgical resources, with emphasis on September’s World Day of Migrants and Refugees.

“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” - Luke 1:45

Today we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, honoring Mary as the mother of Christ and a model of faith, compassion, and service.

As we carry out our mission to serve our neighbors and strengthen our community, we continue to look to Mary for guidance and inspiration in all of our programs and our work. Her example reminds us to lead with compassion, serve with humility, and care for others with love.

May we continue to follow her example as we work together to build a stronger, more compassionate community.
