Our brothers and sisters in Christ at St. Dominic’s Military Veterans Ministry are hosting a FREE, coed one-day retreat for veterans this Saturday!

St. Dominic’s Catholic Church | 5919 Ingram Rd., San Antonio

Come for a day of faith, fellowship, encouragement, and support with fellow veterans. Continental breakfast and a light lunch will be provided.

Men and women veterans are welcome. No cost to attend. Registration is encouraged, but if you don’t register, come anyway!

Today’s Gospel, Matthew 18:15-20, is a good reminder of how we should treat each other, especially when there is disagreement or conflict.

Jesus tells us to go directly to one another. Not talk behind someone’s back, hold a grudge, or immediately give up on them.

As veterans, we understand loyalty and having each other’s six. Our faith calls us to do the same. Sometimes that means having a difficult conversation, forgiving someone, or simply putting our pride aside.

The verse that stood out to me today:

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

We have to keep showing up, praying together, and trying to follow Christ a little better each day.

Happy 236th Birthday to the United States Coast Guard! 🇺🇸

Today we honor the brave men and women of the United States Coast Guard, who have faithfully served our nation since August 4, 1790.

May God continue to watch over you as you live out your motto:

Semper Paratus: Always Ready.

Today, we remember the courage of the Cristeros, ordinary men and women who chose faith over fear.

On July 31, 1926, public worship was suspended in Mexico, marking the beginning of a brutal persecution of the Catholic Church. Thousands refused to deny Jesus Christ, even when it meant imprisonment, torture, or death. Their battle cry became:

”¡Viva Cristo Rey!”
Long live Christ the King!

As military veterans, we understand that courage is not only found on the battlefield. Sometimes the greatest act of bravery is remaining faithful to Christ when the world tells you not to.

The witness of the Cristeros reminds us that our mission is not only to defend freedom, but to live our faith boldly, serve others with humility, and remain steadfast in Christ no matter the cost.

Today, let us pray for all who continue to face persecution for their faith around the world, and may we always have the courage to proclaim:

¡Viva Cristo Rey!

Every day, we pass people who look like they’re doing just fine. Veterans, service members, families, coworkers, and strangers going about their day.

But behind the smiles, many are carrying burdens no one else can see.

God sees you. He sees the wounds that aren’t visible, the struggles you don’t talk about, and the prayers you’ve whispered in silence. He walks with you through every battle and never leaves your side.

If you’re in a difficult season today, don’t lose hope. Lean on Him. You’re not fighting alone.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

As our Veterans Retreat team begins formation today, we are reminded of today's Gospel:

"Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father." – Matthew 13:43

Over the next few months, our team will pray, prepare, and grow together so we can serve the veterans God is calling to this year's retreat. Please keep every team member and every retreatant in your prayers, that God will prepare our hearts and use us to bring others closer to Him.
