Rivers of Hope Ministries

Rivers of Hope Ministries share the love of Christ and spread hope by providing material support to people in need across the world Romans 15:13

We are Rivers of Hope Ministries, an outreach ministry and food pantry based in the Medical Center area of San Antonio, TX. Our mission is to share the love of Christ and spread hope by providing material support to people in need across the world. As a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization, our long-term vision is to offer not only food, but clothing, basic necessities, shelter, financial assistance,

child care, transportation, and moreβ€”both in San Antonio and in additional locations worldwide. Our heart is to show the love of Christ and remind every person that they are not alone. As the Church, we are called to come together and walk alongside our neighbors in their time of need. We cannot do this without the support of our community. We are always accepting food donations, hygiene items, and Bibles to distribute to those we serve. Every donation makes a difference, and we are deeply grateful for your generosity. πŸ’œ **SHE ISN’T ASKING SOMEONE TO FIX HER LIFE. SHE’S ASKING FOR A LITTLE HELP SO SHE CAN REBUILD IT.** πŸ’œ

Today, we are asking our community to come together for a local single mother and her two daughters, ages 12 and 15, who are walking through an incredibly difficult season.

At her request, we are keeping this family's identity completely anonymous. But we believe their story deserves to be heard.

Not long ago, life looked very different.

This mom worked, cared for her girls, and enjoyed the simple things families often take for grantedβ€”playing Checkers and Tic-Tac-Toe together, visiting parks and hiking trails, going to the movies, occasionally eating out, and simply enjoying being a family.

Four months ago, she moved into a new home with someone she believed she was building a future with. They were engaged, and she believed they would share the responsibility of providing for their household.

That relationship ended.

Suddenly, she was left trying to carry the household on her own.

Since then, one challenge has piled on top of another.

She has been actively applying for jobs and trying to get back to work, but her vehicle is leaking coolant and overheating. Even when employment opportunities arise, unreliable transportationβ€”and sometimes simply not having enough money for gasβ€”has created another barrier between her and the stability she desperately wants.

Meanwhile, the bills haven't stopped.

She is now approximately **$1,800 behind on rent.**

There are days when there isn't enough food in the home.

They don't have a refrigerator.

Her daughters need beds.

Their home still needs basic furniture and household necessities.

And one of the hardest things for this mother to admit was that **school has become important to her daughters for more than their educationβ€”it also means they know they will have something to eat.**

She told us:

*"It's embarrassing to say, but that's our reality."*

Yet throughout everything she shared with us, one message came through again and again:

**She wants to work. She wants to provide for her children. She wants to rebuild.**

She isn't asking anyone to fix her entire life.

She's asking for help getting over the obstacles standing between her family and stability.

She wants to catch up on her rent, repair her vehicle, find dependable employment, put food in her home, give her daughters comfortable places to sleep, and eventually build an emergency fund so her family is no longer one crisis away from losing everything.

And perhaps the request that touched our hearts the most wasn't financial at all.

This mom asked whether people might send **encouraging cards or handwritten notes for her and her daughters.**

Because right now, she says they need HOPE just as much as they need material things.

πŸ’œ **OUR COMMUNITY CAN BE THAT HOPE.**

Here are some of the ways this family could use our help:

🏠 **$1,800 toward past-due rent**
πŸ₯« Groceries and food
πŸš— Vehicle repair/mechanical assistance
β›½ Gas cards/transportation assistance
🧊 Refrigerator
πŸ›οΈ Beds for her two daughters
πŸ›οΈ Bed for Mom
πŸ›‹οΈ Couch
πŸ‘• Dressers
🧹 Cleaning supplies and basic household necessities
πŸ’Ό Employment opportunities or connections
πŸ’Œ Encouraging cards and handwritten notes for Mom and her girls
πŸ™ And, of course, prayers

Maybe you can't provide a refrigerator.

Maybe you can't pay $1,800 in rent.

**That's okay.**

Ten people can do what one person cannot.

Fifty people can do even more.

A $5 gift can help put gas in her car.

A $10 gift can help put food on the table.

Someone may have a gently used dresser sitting in a spare room.

Someone may know a mechanic willing to help.

Someone may know an employer who is hiring.

And someone reading this may simply sit down tonight and write this mom or her two teenage girls a note reminding them that **this difficult chapter is not the end of their story.**

πŸ’Œ **WANT TO SEND SOME HOPE?**

Words of encouragement, cards, and handwritten notes for Mom and her girls can be mailed to:

**Rivers of Hope Ministries**
**PO Box 40064**
**San Antonio, TX 78229**

Please write **β€œFamily of Hope”** on the envelope so we know who your card is intended for.

A few encouraging words may seem like a small gesture, but to a family walking through a season like this, knowing that someone is thinking about them, praying for them, and believing in their future can mean more than you know. πŸ’œ

Every act of kindness matters.

At Rivers of Hope Ministries, we believe community means showing up for one another during the seasons when carrying everything alone becomes too heavy.

This family doesn't need judgment.

They need a hand reaching back.

**Together, let's help this mom get back on her feetβ€”and remind two young girls that there is an entire community rooting for them.** πŸ’œ

If you would like to help this family, please comment, message Rivers of Hope Ministries, or donate and designate your gift **β€œFamily of Hope.”**

Please SHARE their story. You never know who in your circle may be able to meet one of these needs.

πŸ™ Pray.
πŸ’œ Give.
πŸ“² Share.
πŸ’Œ Encourage.

πŸ’œ WE NEED MORE HOPE’S HEROES! πŸ’œ

Our food pantry is growing β€” and so is the number of families turning to Rivers of Hope Ministries for help.

At our last food distribution, we experienced our largest turnout yet, and one thing became very clear:

We need more helping hands! πŸ™Œ

We’re looking for compassionate, dependable volunteers to join our HOPE’s Heroes team and help us make future distributions run smoothly, efficiently, and with the dignity every family deserves.

Volunteers may help with:

πŸ’œ Guest check-in
πŸ’œ Food distribution
πŸ’œ Packing and organizing food
πŸ’œ Line and traffic flow
πŸ’œ Loading vehicles
πŸ’œ Setup and cleanup
πŸ’œ Welcoming our neighbors with a smile and a little HOPE

You don’t need special experience β€” just a willing heart and a desire to serve your community. ❀️

Whether you can volunteer once or would like to become one of our regular HOPE’s Heroes, we need you!

πŸ’œ A Message From Rivers of Hope Ministries

Saturday's food distribution brought an overwhelming turnout β€” more families than we have ever served at one distribution.

We are incredibly grateful that our community knows they can turn to Rivers of Hope when they need help. At the same time, we recognize that Saturday's distribution did not run as smoothly as it should have.

Wait times were much longer than usual, we were short on volunteers, and despite having a large amount of food available, the tremendous turnout meant that we unfortunately ran out before we were able to serve everyone.

To those who waited longer than expected, we hear you.

We are already reviewing our check-in process, volunteer staffing, traffic flow, and overall distribution procedures so that we can serve our community more efficiently and safely moving forward.

Rivers of Hope Ministries has always been a place where people are welcomed with dignity, compassion, and love. As our pantry continues to grow, our processes must grow with it β€” and Saturday showed us where we need to improve.

Thank you to every volunteer who worked incredibly hard Saturday and to every family who showed us patience and kindness during an exceptionally busy distribution.

We appreciate this community, and we'll keep learning, improving, and doing everything we can to serve it well. πŸ’œ

πŸ’œ WHAT CAN $1 DO? A WHOLE LOT! πŸ’œ

Our next Food Bank purchase is coming up, and we’re asking our community to CHIP IN JUST $1!

πŸ₯« $1 helps us purchase approximately 1.6 lbs. of food for families in our community.

Imagine what happens when 100, 500, or 1,000 people each give just ONE dollar. πŸ™Œ

πŸ’΅ Will you chip in $1 and help us fill the pantry?

Every dollar. Every pound. Every person matters. πŸ’œ

πŸ’œπŸŽ‰ WOW… WHAT A DAY! πŸŽ‰πŸ’œ

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude! Our 4th Annual Back-to-School Giveaway & Book Fair was a HUGE SUCCESS, and we could not have done it without YOU! ❀️

Because of the incredible generosity of our donors, sponsors, volunteers, community partners, and everyone who supported and shared our event, we were able to send local children into the new school year feeling excited, prepared, and loved.

πŸŽ’ More than 155 backpacks were placed into the hands of children in our community β€” filled with school supplies and accompanied by books, clothing, goodies, and LOTS of smiles! πŸ“šβœοΈπŸ‘•πŸ₯°

But what happened was about so much more than backpacks.

It was about a child getting excited over a new book. πŸ“š
It was about finding the perfect backpack. πŸŽ’
It was about families knowing their community cares about them. πŸ’œ
It was about volunteers giving their time simply because they wanted to bless someone else.
It was about HOPE in action.

β›ͺπŸ’œ A VERY SPECIAL SHOUTOUT TO PASTOR LYNN & FREEDOM LIFE CHURCH! πŸ’œβ›ͺ

We cannot say THANK YOU enough to Pastor Lynn and the entire FLC San Antonio family. You didn't simply open the doors of your church and give us a place to hold this event β€” you opened your hearts.

You rolled up your sleeves, volunteered alongside us, welcomed families, and poured so much love into this event. Your hospitality, generosity, and servant hearts could be felt throughout the entire day.

Thank you for believing in what Rivers of Hope Ministries is doing and for helping us create a place where families weren't just given things β€” they were welcomed, valued, and loved. ❀️

We are incredibly grateful for your partnership and for the love you showed our community. Freedom Life Church, you truly helped make this day special! πŸ™ŒπŸ’œ

πŸ¦·πŸ’œ ANOTHER HUGE SHOUTOUT TO TEXAS FAMILY ORTHODONTICS! πŸ’œπŸ¦·

We are also incredibly grateful Texas Family Orthodontics for partnering with Rivers of Hope Ministries to help make this year's event possible!

Thank you for your generous donation of school supplies AND financial contribution to our Back-to-School Giveaway. Your support helped us put much-needed supplies directly into backpacks and into the hands of children preparing for a brand-new school year. πŸŽ’βœοΈπŸ““

When local businesses choose to invest in their community, the impact reaches far beyond a donation. You helped give children the tools they need to walk into the classroom feeling prepared and confident.

Texas Family Orthodontics, thank you for believing in our mission, supporting our kids, and choosing to be a part of something so special. We are so thankful for your partnership! ❀️

To every person who donated a backpack, purchased school supplies, gave books or clothing, made a financial contribution, sponsored our event, volunteered, helped us set up, stuffed backpacks, shared our posts, told a family about the event, prayed for us, or supported us in ANY way β€” THANK YOU!

You helped make this possible.

And to the families who came out and allowed us the privilege of serving your children β€” thank you for spending your morning with us. Seeing those smiles is exactly why we do what we do. ❀️

155+ backpacks. Hundreds of books. School supplies. Clothing. Goodies. Countless smiles. One AMAZING community.

We may organize the event, but YOU are what makes the mission possible.

From all of us at Rivers of Hope Ministries, THANK YOU for showing up, giving generously, serving wholeheartedly, and believing that together we really can make a difference.

πŸ’œπŸ§‘ Together WE CAN change the world β€” one act of HOPE at a time! πŸ§‘πŸ’œ

πŸŽ’πŸ“š AND TO ALL OF OUR PARENTS & KIDDOS… πŸ“šπŸŽ’

As you head into a brand-new school year, we want you to know that we are cheering you on! πŸ’œ

To our kiddos: Dream BIG, work hard, be kind, believe in yourself, and never forget just how special you are. We hope your backpacks are filled with more than school supplies β€” we hope you carry confidence, courage, joy, and HOPE with you everywhere you go! βœοΈπŸ“šπŸŒŸ

And to all the parents and caregivers: We see you, too! Thank you for everything you do to encourage, support, and prepare your children for another year of learning and growing.

From our entire Rivers of Hope Ministries family, we wish every student, parent, teacher, and school family a VERY HAPPY, SAFE & SUCCESSFUL 2026–2027 SCHOOL YEAR! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ“πŸŽ

Go make it an AMAZING year, kiddos! We believe in YOU! πŸ’œπŸ§‘
