It’s exciting to see one of own elevated to the NISD Interim Superintendent position! The Palomares family has been a fixture of the Thunderbird Hills community for many years now and we’re so thankful for their involvement in the community.

The NISD Board of Trustees has appointed Jessica Palomares as Interim Superintendent, effective August 1, 2026.

A proud Holmes High School graduate and lifelong NISD educator, Palomares brings 30 years of experience serving students, families and staff across the district.

Remember that you ALWAYS have the right to dispute your property appraisal, even if it didn’t go up at all.

If your appraisal increased by less than $1K, you will not get a notice in the mail. You can check your property’s 2026 appraised value at https://bcad.org/.

The Bexar Central Appraisal District is mailing 2026 Notices of Appraised Value this week to approximately 196,000 property owners whose values have changed by more than $1,000 from the prior year.

With a substantially lower number of notices in the mail, Chief Appraiser Rogelio Sandoval wants to remind all property owners that they have the right to file a protest. "Even if you don't receive a notice, you still have the right to review and protest your property's value. You can review your 2026 value online or contact our office with any questions."
