Bexar County CERT

Bexar County CERT The Official Page for the Bexar County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) First responders do not always arrive immediately after a large disaster.

In most disasters, the real first responders are neighbors and witnesses. But without proper training, they can easily injure themselves and add to the problem. We want to conduct as many free training classes as we can in the outer reaches of Bexar County where there are not as many responder organizations. Or where responder organizations may need to extra help of trained neighbors. There is a s

trong need for preparation in all these communities. Our goal is to give them the skills to be ready to respond safely at a moments notice when a flood, fire or tornado passes. These 20 hour classes don't just prepare communities, they also bring together neighbors who live nearby but do not know each other. Si, Usted solo habla en espanol, no es un problema, podemos ensenar clases en espanol y engles tambien. Inappropriate comments (comments that are discriminatory, or advocate violence) will be deleted.

BCCERT is out in the community this morning assisting the City of Kirby residents as they continue recovering from the straight-line winds that moved through earlier this week by helping gather and remove storm debris.

This is what community resilience looks like neighbors helping neighbors, volunteers stepping up, and residents coming together. We are proud to serve alongside our community and support those working to get back on their feet.

A special thank you to all of the volunteers and residents lending a helping hand. Together, we are stronger, and together, we recover.

Don’t let your guard down, Bexar County. Flooded roads are difficult to see at night. Drive slow and when in doubt, turn around don’t drown.

🚨How CERT Volunteers Help During Emergencies

Members of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) play an important role in supporting their communities during disasters. Trained volunteers may help by:

✅ Checking on neighbors after disasters
✅ Supporting evacuation shelters
✅ Assisting emergency management with logistics
✅ Providing community preparedness education

CERT volunteers are everyday residents trained to help their community stay safe when emergencies happen and before first responders can reach everyone.
