Just $6,000 left to go!

Donate -> https://www.saludypaz.org/25th-anniversary/

For 25 years, stories like Manuel’s have defined the heart of Salud y Paz.

Manuel Panjoj, community member of Camanchaj, worked with Dr. Phil Plunk from the very beginning. In the video below, sitting by the dental chairs where he served side-by-side with Dr. Plunk, Manuel shares what it looked like in the early days of the clinic—built through faith, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to serve others. His journey is a reflection of what this community has made possible together.

Today, that same legacy continues, and we are in the final mile of our summer appeal.

We’re just $6,000 away from our goal! Give now and your impact is instantly doubled.

Your support will help carry this work forward, ensuring the clinic continues to grow and serve future generations—just as Manuel and so many others have helped build it over the past 25 years.

Give today and make your impact go twice as far.

For 25 years, Salud y Paz has been privileged to walk alongside families in the Guatemalan highlands, building relationships that transform lives and strengthen communities. What began as a vision to provide compassionate healthcare has grown into a lasting partnership made possible by people like you who believe in this mission.

Among those supporters are Frank and Jan, whose story of their first trip to Guatemala 22 years ago left a lasting impression. They reflect on the people they met, patients they cared for, and what inspired them to continue this work for more than two decades. Their experience reminds us that every act of service and every gift can have an impact that reaches far beyond a single moment.

We are looking ahead to the next chapter of this work. In honor of our 25th anniversary, a generous donor will be doubling every donation up to $25,000. This means every dollar given to our summer appeal will be automatically doubled to help us reach our $50,000 goal. Join us today to expand access to healthcare, ignite passion for learning, and transform communities for generations to come.

We invite you to make a special anniversary gift. Your support today will go twice as far, helping us build the next 25 years of health, healing, and education with the people of Guatemala.

A Mother’s Journey Sparks Healing Across Generations

Antonia, 42, lives in a small community in Quetzaltenango. As a mother of two, she carries the responsibility of caring for her family while navigating her own health journey.

Several years ago, Antonia began to feel unwell. She experienced constant fatigue, weakness, and unexplained weight loss. At first, she attributed these symptoms to stress and the demands of daily life. But as time passed, she knew something wasn’t right.

After confiding in someone she trusted, she was encouraged to seek care at the Salud y Paz satellite clinic in Quetzaltenango. It was there that she was diagnosed with diabetes.

The journey that followed was not easy. Adjusting to treatment, learning new habits, and managing her health required time and perseverance. But step by step, Antonia began to take control, committing to her medications, improving her nutrition, and prioritizing her well-being.

Today, she continues her care at the satellite clinic and shares that she feels much better.

However, the impact doesn’t end here. Through her experience, Antonia encouraged her parents—who were facing similar symptoms—to seek care as well. Today, they too are receiving treatment through Salud y Paz.

Antonia’s story is a powerful reminder that partnering with Salud y Paz changes not just one life, but many. It creates a ripple effect of healing within a family and community.

As we celebrate the past, we are also looking ahead.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to invest in the future of healthcare and education in Guatemala.

https://www.saludypaz.org/25th-anniversary/

This year marks a special milestone for Salud y Paz as we celebrate 25 years of partnering with communities in the highlands of Guatemala. As part of our celebration, we are preparing our annual community race where students, families, staff, and supporters will gather on June 19 — a moment to reflect on God's faithfulness, the partnerships that have shaped our journey, and the communities that continue to inspire our work.

For 25 years, Salud y Paz has been:

▪️ Working alongside communities in the highlands of Guatemala

▪️ A trusted healthcare and education partner

▪️ Serving the community of Camanchaj

▪️ Developing local leaders, professionals, and future generations

None of this would have been possible without supporters like you and our founder, Dr. Phil Plunk, whose vision continues to inspire our work today.

Your Legacy, Their Future.

Thank you for walking alongside us throughout this journey.

Building Healthy Habits from an Early Age

At Colegio Susanna Wesley, education extends beyond the classroom. Through interactive health workshops led by our nurse and teachers, students are learning how to care for their bodies and build habits that will serve them for a lifetime.

Recently, students across all grade levels participated in sessions focused on personal hygiene and self-care. Through simple but essential practices—like handwashing, brushing teeth, and daily hygiene—students are gaining a deeper understanding of how everyday actions can prevent illness and support overall well-being.

For younger students, learning was both engaging and hands-on. In Preschool Class, children explored hygiene through videos, group activities, and interactive puzzles that encouraged curiosity and participation. In Kindergarten Class, students were introduced to the human body, identifying organs such as the heart and lungs and learning how to care for them through guided, practical activities.

These moments of learning go beyond knowledge. They help shape daily habits, reinforce responsibility for personal health, and lay the foundation for healthier futures.

This work is made possible by the dedication of our parents, teachers, clinic staff and child sponsors, who together, create a caring community investing in each child’s growth.

Consistent Care, Measurable Progress

Consistent care is at the heart of lasting impact. Over the past several years, medical, dental, and nutritional evaluations at Colegio Susanna Wesley (CSW) have provided valuable insight into both the needs of our students and the progress being made through ongoing care.

While the number of students served has remained relatively steady, the most meaningful trend is an improvement in nutritional health. This progress reflects the reality that addressing malnutrition takes time—it is not solved in a single intervention, but through consistent, long-term care.

Each year, several children are diagnosed as malnourished and/or with stunted growth, reminding us of the ongoing need. At the same time, improvements are evident. In 2026, 80% of students had age-appropriate growth during medical evaluations, and our nutrition support has been strengthened through collaboration with the local health center nutritionist.

This progress is the result of our holistic work—including regular medical check-ups, vitamins and supplements provided through the clinic, and ongoing education for parents on how to nourish their children. Through workshops and personal guidance, families are gaining practical tools that create lasting impact at home.

At the same time, new challenges are emerging. Some incoming students present with overweight conditions, reinforcing the importance of continued nutrition education and balanced health support for every child.

These trends reflect progress in our mission. They show that while challenges remain, consistent care, education, and partnership with families are creating real, measurable impact.
