American GI Forum of Texas, Inc. State Convention
We had a great time reconnecting with American GI Forum chapters from across Texas—from the Rio Grande Valley and El Paso to Corpus Christi and communities throughout the state.
Veterans, families, and supporters came together to discuss how we can build a stronger, more coordinated statewide effort.
Our key priorities included:
• Veteran housing access
San Antonio has now passed protections for veterans using housing vouchers. We want to help other Texas communities address similar discrimination and expand housing choice for veterans.
• Veteran crisis and su***de prevention
When a veteran is facing a mental health crisis, homelessness, or possible su***de, you do not have to be the expert. You just need to know where to connect them with help. Call or text 988 and press 1 for the Veterans Crisis Line, or connect them with the nearest VA facility.
• Membership and statewide involvement
We want more veterans, family members, and community supporters across Texas to join the American GI Forum and help strengthen our advocacy and service efforts.
• Sharing chapter accomplishments
Each chapter is doing important work in its community. We will continue highlighting these programs, partnerships, and accomplishments so others can learn from and support them.
We are stronger when our chapters work together.
