Our latest Empty Bowls glaze day: It took big love to make all the bowls and get them bisque fired, primarily at Oblate Clay under the leadership of Brian Stewart…and they’re still working on more! Then there’s the glazing. 3 SAPG master potters showed us how it’s done. Our previous batch of glazing was led by Melba, Ray, and of course Maria, our Empty Bowls chair. Both events were generously hosted by Roadrunner Ceramics. Access to a big enough space to have this many bowls glazed is essential! Finally comes the firing of the glazed bowls. Mary Wuest of Roadrunner is one of the hardest working and most caring individuals in the industry. Many thanks to her helping hands, UTSA ceramics major, Izzy, (this music is especially for you as you were asking about the Doobie Brothers) for getting those loads filled, emptied, and boxed up for us. Another UTSA ceramics major, Lydia Tran, spent her one rest day to help as well. It takes lots of love, ya’ll!
