Mark your calendars! JUNE 13, 2026 for “Art in the Garden” at San Antonio Garden Center. We are hosting this indoor event to showcase the abundance of local arts in SATX, to promote the art of Ikebana,to share our love of the beauty and bounty of Gardens and to raise funds for our Don Olson Memorial Scholarship.

SAPG presents ART IN THE GARDEN, a market of juried, multi-media, handmade items inspired by gardens. With free demos and hands on art activities and a beautiful floral display by Ikebana International San Antonio chapter. This event is free to the public. Don Olson was both an accomplished ceramic artist and a practicing member of Ikebana International SA.

Saturday, June 13 at the SA Garden Center

We are seeking vendor artists. Your work must meet our theme of gardens/garden adjacent. We are also seeking small local arts associated businesses that want to offer a demo/hands on activity during the event-those spots are no charge and a great way to promote your studio, makers space, etc. Application fee for a vendor table(6x8 space) is $40, link in bio to apply for either spot on our website.

March Workshop complete! - we learned about the Japanese art of Floral arrangement and made Ikebana Vessels.

Many thanks to Michelle and Ricky for hosting us at their studio and thanks to Kari Kent Schultz of San Antonio Alamo Sogetsu Study Group for the discussion and demonstration of Ikebana floral arrangements and optimal types of ceramic vessels for the art form. It turns out that Ikebana floral arranging and handmade ceramics are a match made in heaven.

More Ikebana to come! See below⬇️

In June SAPG is hosting a community art day and artisan market (there will be vendor opportunities for artists) with guest appearance by the Ikebana International SA Chapter. They will be demonstrating Ikebana arrangements using donated vessels created by longtime potter and ikebana floral arranger Don Olson. The guild also welcomes donations of hand crafted ikebana vessels from our members for a silent auction to benefit the Don Olson Memorial Scholarship. There will also be the opportunity to sell your ceramics including ikebana vessels at the event. Go to our website link in bio to see all of our events.
