Official fundraiser for Nahida and Zamil -

“Zamil Ahamed Limon and Nahida Sultana Bristy were both talented, dedicated graduate students at the University of South Florida before they were brutally murdered. Zamil's remains were found nearly a week after he was reported missing. Nahida's remains may have also been found, pending positive identification. Police have taken into custody Zamil's roommate.

Their families are in Bangladesh, and USF Students have set up this fundraiser to help them offset the financial burdens associated with this senseless tragedy, including transfer of belongings and remains, lost income, and funeral proceedings. We have all lost two gifted and generous young people, and their families have lost their beloved son and daughter. Zamil and Nahida had planned to visit their families this summer and return to USF in the fall to continue their studies. We hope you will contribute to this fund to ease the financial burden associated with this unexpected and heartbreaking final return to Bangladesh.

This fundraiser has been launched by Zamil's graduate advisor at the Univeristy of South Florida in cooperation with the Bangladesh Student Association and with the full and grateful consent of the two bereaved families.”

A dark day for all international students!

One spoke with home every single day until April 16; the other was just two months away from flying back to see his family. The loss of these two lives is a tragedy felt far beyond their homes—it is a heartbreak shared by us all.

Their absence leaves a void in the entire international student community. To our fellow international students: Please, prioritize your safety. Be intentional about who you live with, look out for one another, and stay vigilant. Reach out whenever you feel unsafe.
