The Pals Social Club

The Pals Social Club Founded in 1925 The Pals Social Club formed over a friendly game of bridge in 1925, when Vivian Lowrey suggested they create their own organization.

Others were added to the group and in 1927 the ladies had a dream of presenting young, African-American women approaching adulthood to society. In 1928 their dream was realized when they hosted their First Debutante Ball. The Pals Social Club continues to select and sponsor these debutantes to develop and promote civic, social and cultural awareness, dignity, pride and a sense of self. The Pals de

butante program is a San Antonio institution with grandmothers, mothers, aunts, sisters and daughters participating year after year. The Pals Social Club will continue this tradition of honoring African-American young ladies with concepts fostered in the debutante presentation program.
