"Legacy" Publication

As this third edition of “Legacy” neared completion the hymn “What Is A
Church”* came to mind. It’s based on the scripture “you yourselves like
living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a priesthood”
( 1 Peter 2:5 ESV). A refrain in the lyrics captures the heart of FBCSA and
the purpose of “Legacy:

The church is not a building,
The church is not a steeple,

are the true building blocks. We can see how God’s steadfast love
has guided our Church body for over 150 years.

We’re thankful for the response and encouragement for “Legacy”. We continue
to receive recommended stories of FBCSA members past and present for future
publications. But, we believe we have only scratched the surface. There are many
stories yet to be told. Please, don’t forget to submit your recommendations
for future stories. Keep in mind the closing lines of “What Is A Church”:

And when the people gather,
there’s singing and there’s praying,
There’s laughing and there’s crying sometimes, All of it saying...
I count if I am ninety,
Or nine, or just a baby;...
