๐บ๐ธ ABC National Legislative Conference 2026 | Washington, D.C. ๐บ๐ธ
Three days. One mission. Strengthening the merit shop construction industry through leadership, partnerships, and advocacy.
Day One: Strategic Alignment
The conference began with ABCโs National Committees, where volunteer leaders from across the country came together to ensure alignment with ABCโs National Strategic Plan. Across numerous committees, members collaborated on a wide range of initiatives designed to strengthen the construction industry, enhance member value, and position ABC for continued success.
Topics included technology and innovation, health and safety, workforce development, business development, government affairs, membership growth, education, chapter excellence, and many other priorities critical to the future of the industry. These committees serve as a powerful forum for sharing best practices, identifying emerging opportunities and challenges, and developing strategies that help ABC members, chapters, and the association continue to lead and grow.
Day Two: Strategic Partnerships
The ABC National Board of Directors meeting including Mark Baublit, Marksmen General Contractors, Drew Addison, Acrisure and Chris Martinez, Central Electric Ent. & Co. Highlights included a discussion with David Keeling, Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA, on the importance of mental health in construction and the role employers play in supporting the well-being of their workforce.
Board members also learned about ABCโs collaboration with Meta through the launch of Americaโs Workforce Academy, a $115 million investment in workforce development designed to help build the talent needed for Americaโs growing AI and data infrastructure. By leveraging ABCโs workforce development network, this initiative creates new opportunities for craft professionals while helping address one of our industryโs greatest challenges: the workforce shortage.
The day concluded with the Free Enterprise Alliance Reception, reinforcing ABCโs commitment to free enterprise and fair and open competition.
Day Three: Advocacy in Action
The day began with the Legislative Breakfast featuring Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, Chris LaCivita, and Liam Donovan, who provided insight into the current political landscape and the issues shaping policy discussions in Washington.
ABC members then headed to Capitol Hill to meet directly with elected officials and congressional staff. Conversations focused on fair and open competition, labor and employment law reform, immigration priorities, workforce development, infrastructure investment, working family tax relief, and policies that support small business growth.
The conference concluded with the PAC Reception, where members heard from candidates running in key races across the country, including Texas Congressional District 21, before attending the annual Congressional Baseball Game.
National LegCon demonstrates the power of ABC membership. From shaping strategy and building partnerships to advocating for policies that impact our industry, ABC ensures members have a voice, a seat at the table, and access to the relationships, resources, and insights needed to help their companies thrive. Together, we are advancing free enterprise, developing the future workforce, and shaping the future of construction.
