"I always forced myself to keep going and not give up."

Latasha has faced a lifetime of medical challenges—from open-heart surgeries as a baby to being listed for a rare heart and double lung transplant in July 2023.

Despite setbacks, she achieved her dreams of becoming an educator, earning multiple degrees while teaching students from elementary school to college.

On July 1, 2024, Latasha received her gifts of a new heart and lungs, thanks to the generosity of a donor.
