Northside AFT

Northside AFT Northside AFT is the only local union in the district. We represent the employees of Northside.

Northside AFT is an educator union with a local office consisting of a full time President and staff. The Local is governed by an Executive Board of elected officers and has several working committees to represent the needs of district members.

Another great Community Conversation on Public Education! 💙💛

Northside AFT was proud to bring our community together with Councilman Edward Mungia, Dr. Chloe Sikes with IDRA, and NISD Trustee David Salcido to talk about our Northside public schools.

We had a great turnout and great questions about NISD, public school funding, school safety, and how our city and school districts can work together to support students and families.

We’re excited to keep hosting more conversations and community events that get people informed, involved, and connected to our public schools.

📚 Let’s talk public education in Northside!

What’s happening with public school funding in Texas? What are our schools facing right here in San Antonio? And what do our families and communities need to know?

Join Northside AFT for our next Community Conversation on Public Education on Saturday, August 22 from 10:30 AM–12:30 PM at the Yates Community Center.

We’ll be joined by:

🎤 IDRA Education Policy Expert Dr. Chloe Sikes

We’ll talk about public school funding, the state of public education in San Antonio, school safety, and the issues impacting our neighborhood public schools, plus time for YOU to ask questions.

Northside AFT union leaders were proud to participate in the James Talarico Labor Roundtable, hosted by the San Antonio AFL-CIO Central Labor Council and the Communications Workers of America (CWA).

We appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from Representative James Talarico, ask important questions, and discuss the issues that matter most to working people.

Our members deserve leaders who will fight for fully funded public schools, protect the freedom to organize, support working families, and ensure educators and school workers can earn a dignified living while caring for their own families.

Those are the values Northside AFT fights for every day, and they are why we are proud to support James Talarico for the Texas Senate.

Elections matter. When working people organize, engage, and vote, we have the power to elect leaders who will stand with us, invest in public education, and put Texas families first.
