YOU CAN KNOW ALL ABOUT JESUS AND STILL MISS HIM

Jesus quoted an old proverb about Himself, and we'd say it this way: familiarity breeds contempt.

The principle behind it is simple. The closer you get to someone, the easier it is to lose respect for them, find fault in them, and take them for granted.

This happened to Jesus. The people who grew up with Him couldn't see who He really was.

Familiarity can work on us the same way. We can know all about Jesus and still take Him for granted.

Have we grown so familiar with Jesus that we've stopped seeing Him for who He really is?

The reason you're not seeing God move.

The life you desire is only possible if God is at the top of it. He must come first for you to have that life.

SHE LOST EVERYTHING FOR 12 YEARS. THEN SHE DID THIS.

Her body was failing, and that was only the start. She suffered physical misery, she suffered social misery, and she suffered religious misery.

By then the money was gone too. She had spent every penny she owned, sold what she could, and gone into debt just trying to get well.

Sickness was one wound. Rejection was another. She was treated as an outcast, and her acceptance in the community was gone.

This wasn't a week. It wasn't a month. It wasn't a year. This went on for 12 years, over a decade of one woman's life spent in a desperate condition.

If anyone had a reason to be a doubter, it was her. Somehow, after losing all of it, she still had enough faith left to reach out.

She had heard the reports about Jesus, so she pushed through the crowd and reached for His garment.

She said it herself in Mark 5:28: "If I touch even His garments, I will be made well." After everything you've lost, what would it take for you to reach out?

The one word Jesus said that changed everything about her.

Jesus doesn't believe in lost causes. He makes unclean things clean. He makes dead things come to life.

TWO WAYS CHRISTIANS GET SPIRITUAL WARFARE WRONG

There's a spiritual war going on. We're called to see it clearly and still refuse to live in fear of it.

Most of us miss that balance in one of two ways.

Some Christians live practically like atheists. They don't acknowledge the spiritual realm, and they'd rather not think about a war at all. That leaves us vulnerable and unaware.

If we don't see the war, we won't recognize what the enemy is after, or how it's shaping our society, our thoughts, and our behavior. We're called to be sober-minded and watchful.

While others see a demon behind every challenge or setback. Like the devil made me stub my toe.

That kind of thinking leads to fear and depression, and it keeps us from the freedom found only in Christ.

Both extremes cost us something. Stay awake to what's real, and stay free from the fear. That's the balance worth living in.
