Welcome, welcome! Thank you all for the follows 💕 I've been getting a lot of feedback in person and it means a lot 🥺💕
I still have a ways to go with Hoppy Horizons, but I'm doing my best to be active on here.
I'll start with a little introduction about myself. My name is Mary, I've been house rabbit owner since 2018. During this year, after a move I really wanted some sort of animal companion. After a talk with my boyfriend, and month's of research, I found ACHR where I adopted my rabbit, Ziggy.
Ever since then I've had a passion for helping house rabbits and spreading awareness of their care and how often they are abandoned. I've helped temporary foster, socialize, and rescue rabbits which was extremely awarding to me. Not only were they saved off the street and poor environments, but they were soon adopted to their forever home when ready.
In 2021 I had rescued 4 rabbits that were dumped by horse stables, with the help of my boyfriend and some bystanders who were also trying to save them. ACHR came in to take them and also help trap the last rabbit. Little did we know, one of these rescues would give birth to 10 babies.
Ever since is when I had a strong drive to educate.
In April 2025, I was reached out to intake another 5 rabbits. A mom, dad, and 3 siblings...2 of which were mere weeks old. I was angry, of course, and my heart sanknwhen I saw the condition they were in. All five were living in a 2ftx2ft hutch outside. Hutches are bad to begin with, but imagine FIVE rabbits living in that.
Once they were in my care, I had given them what I could since I have very little space. All 3 (with the exception of the babies) were so happy to have a warm place, soft floor, and room to actually move around and stretch.
With the help of , Second Chance Cavy Rescue and House Rabbit Resource Network , these rescues took in the rabbits and/or helped me with resources. In less than a year, all of them (with the exception of the babies), have found their forever homes. And that's what puts a smile on my face and makes me strive to continue. And a BIG thanks to Twitchy Noses Rabbit Rescue for meeting with me and guiding me to start this organization
Hoppy Horizons is not a full, complete rescue due to my very limited amount of space. However, we help in other ways by educating, providing resources, home visits, and boarding.
As of now, I am designing and creating merch that will be offered to anyone who donates. All donations will be either paid forward to another rescue to help with their vet bills OR set aside so Hoppy Horizon can have our own education and rabbit supply facility.
This is a lot of work and will take time. But with everyone's support, we can do it! Thank you all again for believing in me. 💕
