The Center For Health Care Services Foundation, formerly known as The National Center for Behavioral Health Solutions, is designated as a 501 c 3, is dedicated to se

curing substantial financial resources that advance the capital, clinical, educational and service delivery goals of The Center for Health Care Services (CHCS). The Center for Health Care Services first opened its doors in 1966 and now serves as the mental health authority for Bexar County providing treatment programs for mental illness, substance use disorders and intellectual and developmental disabilities. CHCS has developed an innovative and highly integrated system of care for people in the San Antonio community who struggle with mental health disorders and substance abuse. Utilizing strong community partnerships and diverse funding sources, CHCS programs have created an effective public safety net that helps diverts patients from emergency rooms, jails and prisons while linking them to treatment programs that help them lead independent, productive lives. This year alone, CHCS will serve nearly 40,000 Bexar County residents and provide almost 800,000 mental and behavioral health services to women, children and men.

Over 200 South San Antonio ISD staff are now Mental Health First Aid certified 🧠💚

This week, we trained educators and staff to recognize the signs of mental health and substance use challenges and know how to respond when a student or colleague needs support. Superintendent Dr. Saul Hinojosa stopped by the morning session and saw the training in action firsthand.

Why does this matter? Teachers are often the first to notice when something’s wrong. MHFA gives them the tools to step in with confidence rather than uncertainty before a crisis happens.

Proud to partner with South San ISD to build a safer, more supported school community 💪

Big news from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing: 𝟓̲ ̲𝐦̲𝐢̲𝐥̲𝐥̲𝐢̲𝐨̲𝐧̲ ̲𝐩̲𝐞̲𝐨̲𝐩̲𝐥̲𝐞̲ have now been trained in Mental Health First Aid across the U.S.

That’s 5 million people who can recognize when someone is struggling, start a caring conversation and help connect them to support before a crisis hits.

At The Center Foundation, this is exactly the kind of movement we exist to support. Every First Aider trained means a stronger, more prepared Bexar County, and we’re honored to help make that possible.

Here’s to the next 5 million.
