The Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation (HPARC) was created by City Council in 2009 to redevelop the former site of the 1968 World’s Fair in San Antonio, Texas. HPARC is dedicated to the transformation of Hemisfair into a sustainable, self-funded urban district with residences, local businesses, unique programming and three parks—Yanaguana Garden, Civic Park (Phase II) and Tower Park (Phase III). Hemisfair is where San Antonio meets: it is a vibrant gathering place for a day with friends and the city’s biggest celebrations. HPARC is a 501(c)3 local government corporation, supported in part by the Hemisfair Conservancy, an independent 501(c)3.

Every day we honor the original stewards of this land: the Payaya people. Their name for the San Antonio River, Yanaguana, inspired the name of Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair. 🛝

While our playground’s art and structures share the story of the Blue Hole visually, San Antonio’s very own Jesse Borrego and Isaac “Papa Bear” Cardenas brought it to life at our Yanaguana Garden 10th Birthday celebration last year! ✨

May we continue to learn from their legacy and care for this land with gratitude and respect. ♥️

Civic Park was filled with incredible talent last night! 🎶✨

Celebración: Music of Hispanic Heritage brought together the St. Mary’s University Mariachi Cascabel, Jazz Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and San Antonio Brass Band for a special evening celebrating Hispanic heritage through music.

The evening also marked the Texas premiere of Sinfonía Nómada by world-renowned composer Arturo Márquez, a milestone made even more meaningful by the St. Mary’s Wind Ensemble’s role as one of the work’s commissioning ensembles.

Thank you to St. Mary’s University for partnering with us to bring this extraordinary performance to Hemisfair! ♥️

One of our world-class parks is making headlines! 🌳🏆✨

Civic Park at Hemisfair is soaring at the top of the San Antonio Express-News Sunday newspaper after being ranked the top large urban park in all of North America by World Urban Parks!

This global recognition celebrates our parks, leaders, and organization that advances the quality, equity, and management of urban parks and open spaces around the world. 🌎

It’s a proud moment for San Antonio as the Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation and the Hemisfair Conservancy continue working together to create one of the World’s Great Public Places right here in our city. ♥️

Art at Hemisfair: Berlin Bear by Guss Fussell 🎨

This bear has been giving high-fives for more than 50 years. 🐻✨

Created by artist Guss Fussell, Berlin Bear is a stylized bear standing on its back feet with its paws outstretched. And if you look closely, you'll notice its left paw has been polished to a shiny golden brown from years of public interaction.

But Berlin Bear has a story that goes beyond its shiny paw! The sculpture was gifted to San Antonio by the City of Berlin, West Germany, in honor of HemisFair '68. ♥️

Next time you pass by, give this longtime Hemisfair resident a high-five and see if you can spot its golden paw. 🐾

Looking for Saturday night plans? Spend the evening with us at Civic Park!

Celebración: Music of Hispanic Heritage takes the stage on Saturday, October 10, from 7:30 to 9:00 PM, featuring St. Mary's University ’s Mariachi Cascabel, Jazz Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and the San Antonio Brass Band for the Texas premiere of Sinfonía Nómada by world-renowned composer Arturo Márquez.

The St. Mary’s Wind Ensemble is one of the commissioning ensembles for the work, making this a performance you don’t want to miss!
