Our Scholarship Applications ARE NOW OPEN!

Last year, because of the support of our private and corporate sponsors like Wells Fargo, Now Word Covenant Church, we were able to give $70,900 in scholarships to greater San Antonio area students. This year, we are excited to seed more monies and help Today's Learners Become Tomorrow Leaders

We would like to congratulate our Community For Life Foundation sponsor and former recipient, Mr. Bryson Graham who was recently named the executive vice president of basketball operations for the NBA's Chicago Bulls. Mr. Graham has supported us over the years, spoken at many of our events, as well as facilitated support from Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, and many others around the NBA.

Our Community For Life Foundation Scholarship Applications are Now OPEN!

Our Executive Director Dr. Lawrence Scott and The University of Texas at Austin alumna, Alexia Barrera sat down with Mrs. Mariza Mendoza of News 4 San Antonio to discuss our 25th Anniversary of helping Today's LEARNERS Become Tomorrow's LEADERS. Thank you Mariza Mendoza and News 4 WOAI for hosting our team and amplifying the voices of our scholarship opportunity.

A Full College Experience:

While at UT Austin, Alexia excelled in the marching band (Sugar Bowl), mock trial competitions, and professional work at a law firm, and she founded and became the inaugural President of the UT Lawtina Organization. She shared that the scholarship eased financial burdens, from books to tuition and parking, allowing her to fully engage in college life.

With nearly $1 million awarded to over 450 students in the San Antonio area since 2001, the Foundation continues to support student success.

ICYMI: Our executive director, Dr. Lawrence Scott and former recipient, and soon to be alumna of The University of Texas at Austin, Alexia Barrera stopped by News 4 San Antonio and KABB FOX 29 News, San Antonio to discuss how the Community For Life Foundation is helping Today's Learners Become Tomorrow's Leaders.

During her time at UT-Austin, she performed in the marching band (Sugar Bowl), secured victories in her mock trial competitions, worked at a law firm, and even founded and served as the President of the UT Lawtina Organization.

Alexia recounted: "The scholarship helped me in my first year... to take care of some of those costs that a lot of college students unfortunately have to go through," Barrera said. "Anything from books to tuition fees to even parking fees... helping alleviate some of that pain so that way I could go and enjoy my time and make something of myself."

Keep up the great work Alexia! Definitely a rising star in our community.

New Scholarship Opportunity.

Marci Mathews Aguirre Scholarship

We would like to thank the Mathews Family, Sherry and Julian Mathews (a Former Community For Life Foundation Scholarship Recipient) for establishing the new Scholarship in honor of their sister and aunt Ms. Marci Mathews Aguirre. This scholarship was established in memory of Marci Mathews Aguirre, who graduated with a degree in accounting and continued to work in the accounting and finance field for all of her life. She was an active member of the community of San Antonio, serving on the boards of several different non-profit organizations. She believed in helping those in our community who were most in need. We would like to reward a student with a scholarship in her memory who displays the things that were important to Marci – Community and Hard Work. Its always great to see former recipients "Pay it Forward!"
