Our founder and chairman, JD Damian, was out and about at historic Market Square in downtown San Antonio, spreading the word about our upcoming golf classic, taking place August 6, 2018 at the Dominion Country Club. Gary DeLaune is a San Antonio icon. A veteran of the United States Army, he eventually found his way to KENS 5, where he spent nearly three decades. Gary came up with the idea for our annual fundraiser for veterans and first responders, now known as the American Wounded Heroes Golf Classic. On a national level, he is known for being the first newscaster to announce the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Locals know him for his history with the Spurs, UTSA Roadrunner basketball, and for calling local high school football games.
