The Texas Church of God family is heartbroken by the tragic event that unfolded today in Midland, Texas.
Our prayers are with every victim, every grieving family, those who were injured, and the entire Midland community as they walk through the aftermath of this senseless act of violence. We are also praying for the law enforcement officers, first responders, medical personnel, and emergency workers who courageously placed themselves in harmβs way while serving and protecting others.
One of the responding police officers is a member of the Church of God in Midland. We thank the Lord for His protection over this officer and praise God that he is safe. At the same time, we recognize that many others are hurting, and we continue to pray for every person whose life has been affected by this tragedy.
The Psalmist declared, βGod is our refuge and strength, a very present help in troubleβ (Psalm 46:1). In moments when answers seem difficult to find, we place our trust in the One who is near to the brokenhearted and able to bring comfort, healing, and peace.
I encourage every TXCOG congregation to remember the people of Midland in prayer this weekend. Let us pray for healing for the wounded, comfort for those who mourn, wisdom for community leaders, and strength for all who continue to serve on the front lines of this situation.
Midland, please know that the Texas Church of God stands with you. You are not alone. We are praying for you, and we are believing God to minister His grace and peace to every hurting heart in the days ahead.
