Hi Everyone!

I wanted to reach out to everyone that I have connected with over the past few years through the NCCC. Many of you have contacted me with interest in volunteering and/ or asking how you can help.

I have thoroughly enjoyed volunteering for the National Cervical Cancer Coalition Chapter, but I wanted to let you all know that due to a recent addition to my career, I won't be able to commit to the necessary hours that are needed to run the local San Antonio chapter. I struggled with this decision, as my head and heart wanted to go two different ways.

After talking with Fred Wyand, Director of Communications of the ASHA/NCCC (who has always been extremely supportive and understanding) we discussed one of the options, which was to see if someone would want to step in and take the position of local chapter leader. This would be a great alternative to stopping the San Antonio chapter all together.

I believe there is someone out there who feels as strongly as I do about spreading the word on awareness, fundraising, prevention and making a difference. There is an AMAZING support system at the NCCC office and there are chapter leaders across the country that have bonded together like family and are here to help. I am hoping and praying someone feels called to this position.

The first time I talked to Fred Wyand about the time commitment for the chapter, he said “something is always better than nothing” so if you feel time may be an issue…it may not. There can also be a few leaders as well, so if you are just curious and want to know more please reach out.

I learned a lot, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!! This has been such a blessing in my life and I hope this is a start to an amazing future for the local NCCC chapter. Thank you again for all your support and for welcoming me with open arms.

If you are interested in learning more about becoming chapter leader for the San Antonio NCCC, please click the message button above to contact me. Please include your name, phone number and email address and I will assist you in your introduction to the National Chapter leaders.

Thank you!!!!!

Wow! Tuesday night at UTSA was wonderful! I was so impressed with the event that the Sigma Lambda Alpha Sorority and CAMbassadors organized. Each and every one of you touched my heart. Thank you for welcoming me with open arms! The awareness you created from sharing your stories, is such a beautiful blessing. Mayra, thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak that night and for putting on such an amazing night. We are ALL so proud of you and know your Grandmother would be as well.

Definite heavy heart when I read the news yesterday… Lindsay Apostolo, Houston NCCC Chapter leader, died Wednesday at the age of 29 after a, long fight with cervical cancer. I had it on my to-do list to talk with her about her Houston chapter and never got the chance. She sounds like she was an amazing person and a very special blessing in the lives of many. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones.

Veronica posted a new CaringBridge journal entry. Read the latest update and show your support. You can be part of Lindsey's health journey by reading updates, viewing photos and leaving messages of love, hope and compassion.
