San Antonio Aerospace Career Education - ACE Academy The ACE Academy is an FAA sponsored summer program for the purpose of exposing youth to career opportunities in aviation.

The ACE program endeavors to instill in youth an appreciation for the academic skills necessary to succeed and to discover that learning can be fun when done in the context of aviation. ACE Camp introduces kids to aviation history, aerodynamics, meteorology and navigation. Students receive orientation flights with qualified pilots, in addition to visits to facilities that directly or indirectly su

pport the aviation industry. Founded in 1989, ACE is sponsored by the FAA and has worked with more than 1,600 youth in its various programs. The ACE Camp offers orientation to the various aviation disciplines for young people ages 14 to 17. Students in the camp explore the many career options available in the aerospace industry. Classes are conducted in traditional classrooms, simulator labs and various field trips. The camp relies heavily on the local community to provide financial and “in kind” support to run the program. Sponsorships for food, transportation, souvenir items, etc. are sought to enhance the learning experience for the week. There is small admission fee to help offset the cost of the camp. ACE seeks a diverse enrollment in both race and gender to reach as many segments of the community as possible. The Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP) conducts the program for the FAA in San Antonio.
